Lane Departure hardware but not in VO/coded

I have a 2015 M235i and recently installed the M Performance II wheel with display. When I was swapping out the regular sport pack wheel I noticed it had what I think is the lane departure motor/vibration installed. A recheck of my VIN doesn't indicate it has that but I can't imagine the motor being installed on every sport wheel.
I can't really just add to the VO as I'm still waiting for E-sys access, but I was wondering if anyone else ran into this and just tried to add it to the VO.

Thanks,

Andy

The 2 series does not have lane departure or related features. The 3/4 have it as an option iirc. You can't code it into the 2 since its missing the hardware

Mine has it.
They don't have lane KEEP assist.

Who knows why OPs has the motor but not the option.
Maybe just cost savings only having to manufacture less wheel options.

That's what I was thinking but seems awfully expensive to add all that to save on parts proliferation.

Guess I'll just give it a shot when I get E-sys access. Need to remove heated steering wheel option anyway. My AR tendencies don't let me just leave a fault code in the FEM, especially when it's just a simple VO action.

Thanks guys -

Andy

That's fascinating. I had no idea it was optioned on the 2, I only ever saw the buttons on the 3/4. I see it's the driver assistance plus package? I have the regular driver assistance. Do you have the automated parking?

I have lane departure, it's been on for approximately 5 mins of my entire 5.5 year ownership. I wouldn't waste too much time trying to get this feature to work unless you like being annoyed.

In 2016 you would need driving assistance plus to have lane departure warning as well as crash mitigation system
Driving assistance was backup camera and PDC
Driving assistance plus was Lane departure warning, Crash mitigation, as well as speed limit info.

I don't *mind* the lane departure warning, but I don't like the collision warning. It's freaked out at me a few times and caused me more of a panic than any proximity to an object did.

The problem I have with it is, it turns itself on every time I start. I'd like the be able to set it so if I turn it off, it stays off.
