Hotel lost my Polo Shirt...(rant)

Well last week I stayed in a hotel for 5 days in downtown Chicago for vacation and my friends wedding.

As I left the room early so that room service could clean the place up, I placed my practically brand new white polo shirt on the bed. When I got back later that afternoon, the room was clean, bed was made, and my polo shirt was nowhere to be found.

After searching up and down the room, through my luggage, the closets, and even my friends bags incase the maid put them there.....nothing.

Here is what I think happened:

I believe that when the maid was making the bed and changing the sheets she may have bundled the shirt with them by accident and not even notice that she did since the shirt is white.

So I think "ok, no problem. I'll just call house keeping and ask them to look out for my shirt while they being washing the sheets."

Lucky me, they said that they don't wash the sheets in house and send them off to a third party. She said she will call me the next day and let me know the deal.

Next day: No Call. I call back....no answer, so I leave a message.

Next day: No call back. Now im thinking wtf? I call again. Someone answers, and I let her know the situation. She says she hasnt heard anything about the shirt nor has one been returned from the cleaners. She said she should know by Tuesday 6/12 (3 days later) from the cleaning company if they found it and call me back to give me an update. I leave the hotel to come back home the following day.

Tuesday: No call.
Wednesday: No call.

Today: Ok, im done playing around. I call the front desk, ask for a manager. "uh sorry, there is no manager on duty."
WTF? So then I ask well who is in charge and let me speak to them. She forwards me to the General Manager of the hotel. But guess what. He's on vacation and won't return until 6/20.
----------------------------------------------------------

I mean seriously......will I ever see my shirt again? Probably not.
Should I brunt the cost of replacing it? FUCK NO. I didn't lose it and It wasn't stolen. If the maid had been more careful this wouldnt have happened.

We spent over $900 dollars staying at this hotel for 5 days. What really bothers me is that I just bought the damn shirt last week!

This is what I want: Either find my shirt, get me another one, or reimburse me the $75 to get another one. Is that too much to ask? I dont think so.

Think about it.... I could be asking for 54 million dollars...

in the scheme of life its a shirt and apparently since you can afford 900 bucks for a few nights, 75 bucks should be chump change - no?

i skimmed it...

sounds like it was probably an accident, and i got taken out with the bed linens.

since it was sent to a 3rd party for wash, i doubt you'll ever see your shirt again.

sucks about not being able to get in touch with the management.

One would think, but thats not the case. We stayed at a Travellodge. Yup, the Travellodge. Chicago is a freakin expensive. I've been saving for a year to afford the trip.

I read it...

Cliffnotes: maid took his shirt with the sheets, and he never got his shirt back

Well if your dry cleaner lost or destroyed your shirt they would reimburse you..I would ask for your 75 bucks...what kind of shirt was it?

You left it on the bed, expecting the people to clean your room. If this shirt was so near and dear to you, shouldn't you have put it in a drawer or bag?

Not trying to be a prick but when I am at a hotel even clothes I don't care about are put in my bag or a drawer. Because they do not look in either thing. Therefore it would fully be there fault if it was misplaced.

Sucks but just buy another one. If it wasn't a Lacoste polo now you have an excuse to get one. Because Lacoste>Raulph Lauren.

Roy L. Pearson, who filed a $67 million lawsuit against the dry cleaning business that lost his pants, has lowered his demand. Now, he's asking for only $54 million, according to a May 30 court filing in D.C. Superior Court.

The case is still scheduled to be tried before Judge Judith Bartnoff on June 11, 2007 and June 12, 2007 beginning at 9:30am each day at the District of Columbia Superior Courthouse, courtroom 415.

Previously the cleaners had offered $12,000 to settle the case which Pearson turned down, prompting D.C. Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz to complain that "the court has significant concerns that the plaintiff is acting in bad faith."

Back in May 2, 2005, Pearson was appointed as an administrative law judge for Washington D.C. And was scheduled to be re-appointed to the same position on May 2, 2007 for another two years, but was demoted to only doing paperwork as he is no longer hearing cases. On the same day Pearson's biography was removed from the DC Courts' homepage.
