Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has the BMW torque settings for the strut tower bolts. See highlighted pics of said bolts:

Many thanks!

20.7 lb/ft each

From this guide: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=994489

And cross referenced the part numbers from the F30 to the F22. Same part number, same bolt, same torque spec.

Not trying to sound rude But i have no idea where those specs came from.

Right from BMW repair instructions
Bolts must be replaced - torque to Yield
Joining Torque 30NM
Angle Torque: 90 degrees

After further digging, the actual value is 56Nm. The first document from ISTA shows the torque value. The others cross reference the relevant part numbers.
The strut mount bolts are M10 bolts, not M8.

Wow, ok... I guess I'll be retorquing mine this weekend!

However, I don't see how your ISTA image relates to this bolt's part number.

The part numbers that correspond with those on realoem confirm they are M10 bolts (see on right of partnumber in realoem picture). The ISTA states that M10 bolts should be 56Nm.

I get that, but I'm curious how you're making the connection from the ISTA page with no part numbers to realOEM with part numbers. I'm not trying to make a stink, I just want to be very sure both sources are referring to the same bolt.

The ISTA refers to a "nut and locknut/self locking nut" without specifying where it is in use (such as "guide support" on realOEM). The actual part is a bolt with a washer.

Purely on the basis that it's an M10 bolt. You're right ISTA doesn't correspond to actual part numbers. If someone with access can step in and advise, it would be appreciated. For now, I've gone with 56Nm as that was what I was advised by local dealer parts advisor.

It's 30NM, I was told by Matt Bean (former performance specialist at Thompson BMW) when we were installing my strut brace. Note they are single use only and easy to snap, so definitely use a fresh set and a properly calibrated wrench.

Yes its 30nm, do not torque to 56nm, you will break your bolts, if they don't break they will be at their very limit, when I torqued them to 56nm they broke.
