Differential Oil

Have a 16' 235i manual non LSD. I researched online weight for rear diff. oil. Got a few numbers back, so went by BMW and chatted with service manager and parts guys...they said def. 75W85.

When I look and search online, Redline (and others) comes up with 75W85.

Note: Redline 75W85 is extremely slippery, and as a result is not recommended for manual transmissions with synchronizers.

Don't all manual BMW's have synchronizers ? Thought I researched online lol I could go over pay for OEM at BMW, but trying to reconcile this.

are you doing rear differential or the six speed manual gearbox ?

I know Honda FRONT ENGINE with TRANSAXLE work best with Honda specific gear oil.

BMW fluid is certainly not a bad way to go.

if you want to stick with redline they make a MT75W85 for manual trans with all the correct additives to protect the brass synchronizers. Then use the gear oil 75W85 for the rear diff
