Sport mode - Clanking and metallic noises from clutch/transmission.
Hello all.
I’m driving a ‘16 M235i with 25k miles on it (still under warranty). When I’m in Eco Mode or Comfort mode, I shift like butter. Hardly any noises at all. When I’m in sport mode though... the car sounds like a real machine! Maybe this is normal? Maybe it’s the dual mass fly wheel? Whenever I engage or disengage the clutch, especially at low speed, there is a lot of clanking. When I engage the clutch and shift into 1st or second, there’s like a ‘spinning’ noise coming from the transmission. I’ve never owned a manual BMW so maybe I’m just a noob to this, but can someone calm my nerves? Is this normal? Thanks. Last edited by Dannyxz; 06-28-2019 at 08:37 PM.. |

Is it possible it's coming from the exhaust flap, but from inside the car you think it's the transmission? The "rod" between the flap actuator and the flap broke on mine and it was doing exactly that. I was about to change exhausts anyway but knowing it was just that re-assured me, when it started I was sure I was in for 10K of repairs!
