LCI taillights under warranty

The warranty on my M235i expires in 2 months. Is there a way to convince the dealer to get me LCI taillights even if I don't have condensation?

You want the dealer to give you an upgrade, under warranty, for a problem you don't have?

Seems legit

Even if you had condensation in both I doubt they'd replace with an alternate SKU, unless they can pull some strings?

This would be quite unlikely, they share different part numbers I assume? But if you have different luck, please let me know! haha

I do love the LCI tail lights!

You have a better chance of winning the lotto than the dealer upgrading your taillights to LCI version, which involves re-pinning the original harness and intricate coding.

The taillights are not that expensive anyways; I paid $220 per side for the European version with amber turn signals.

Splurge a little..

I found it in a different forum. I don't have the picture of it on my phone, but I think it's on my computer. There is an official service bulletin out from BMW stating to still replace the lights under warranty even after your car warranty expires. It's floating around here somewhere. Or just call your dealer to ease your concerns. I'll post it if I can find it so you can see it in writing

That's a extension of the warranty coverage for replacement of just a ground pin and back cover, not the actual taillights.

Applies only on vehicles produced before 10/2016. Details below.

This is why genuine warranty work can be so difficult to get done.

Yes, good thing nobody at a dealership ever reads online forums, or they might start to get suspicious and distrust owner complaints.....
