Question Snap, Crackle, and Pop

People either love or hate the snaps, crackles, and pops from the exhaust. I like them, but do not love them, because they were so much better on my 135IS. Took me back to my high school hot rod days.

Anyway, I was wondering. Since all that noise-making is just due to the computer dumping fuel into the exhaust when by rights it wouldn't, are there settings in the codes that can affect the exhaust snapples?

There was a good post on here about computer update at dealer quieting the pops.
I’ll try to find and link, but in the meanwhile look in the exhaust section.

I like the deep burbles and light crackles, but can't stand some of the loud snaps I hear. It sounds like someone set off fireworks in a tin can. Guess I'm getting old.

I have the MPE and dinan midpipe and love it cause the snaps and pops are quite a lot in sport but in comfort mode there are none. It basically allows me to turn them off

You get more from the mid-pipe than from the MPE. I have the mid-pipe and OE muffler. The sound change was dramatic, especially the snap, crackle, pop. :-D

meh, I liked them for a week but now I kinda wish they weren't there. I basically don't like the exhaust part of my m235i's noise. I like the intake noise and turbo whissle much better.
