Trunk does not "pop" up when opened
The trunk on my 2014 M235i releases open, however, the trunk does not pop up or open like it used to. You actually can't tell it's open. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions to fix?

In my 15 228 vert and in my 18 230 vert the trunk doesn't pop open. It remains flush. I can't even list the number of times I had to get back out of the car after starting it, to close the trunk. Annoying, yes but I love my 2er

Mine never did more than come up a cm or two. Loaners I've had (3/4-series) all did pop up. I vaguely recall somebody posting about the dealer doing some kind of fix to get it to pop up, but I don't mind it this way so I never asked after this (and I suspect you are way out of warranty service).

Our 2's trunk lid doesn't have the adjustable tension springs for the trunk lid to help it up if a spoiler is attached.

I'm having this same problem on my 2015 m235i. I bought the car like this and I assumed it just didn't pop up like my 3 series always did but now that I know it's supposed to and doesn't I can't sleep at night haha. Did you ever figure out a fix for it?

Like it used to? My '16 never popped up and I first got it at 8k miles so I never thought it was supposed to.

I tried adding die springs to help it pop a bit more but decided against it. I think they were too stiff and was worried things were starting to things bend that shouldn't be bending.
Took them out and forgot to project after a few minutes of fiddling. I think they make shocks with built in "helpers" if anyone really needs it to work. |

I've seen this discussed before.
