Which Final Drive is in the 2017 M240i

I've been having trouble determining what final drive ratio is in 03/2017 automatic M240i. I thought that it might be 2.81 since on realoem that is what is stated to be the final drive ratio for the m performance lsd for the auto, however, on BMW it says that this is incompatible with the 2017 m240i and that the only one compatible with my car is the 3.08 one which I thought was only for the manual. Can anyone share some insight on early M240i production models or any insight in general?

to add more confusion onto this, diffsonline considers 3.08 to be the stock final drive ratio for the automatic M240i, and you have to pay an extra $1,000 for the 2.81.

My understanding is that all M235i's got the 3.08, but auto M240i's dropped to 2.81 while manuals stuck with 3.08. From what I understand, this is because of the changeover from 8HP45 to 8HP50, which has slightly different gear ratios. I'd be surprised if they changed the F/D part-way through production, so your best bet is 2.81.

I just noticed that on diffsonline, for the m240i automatic option, it is listed as being for only the LCI M240i. Interesting...

I still have the stock diff from my 2019 M240i auto transmission car. The sticker says 2.81 on it.

I recommend calling Dan Fitzgerald at Diffsonline.com to find out exactly what the story is. He'll pick up, and the conversation will be short.

Got my response! He told me that he's seen a mix of both come through!
