BM3 Maintenence Schedule
I've had BM3 on my car for about 20k miles now (car is at 32k). I did plugs when I went stage 2, but other than oil changes at 5k and checking the coolant regularly (no loss) I haven't done much. What other accelerated maintenance are you doing for your cars? I'm about to go stage 2+ and would like to make sure everything's in top shape before doing so.

I think it depends on the oil and filter. Are you using a MANN oil filter? Aftermarket filters (e.g., Fram, Puralator) aren't as good as MANN filters. Also, what oil are you using? It matters. I run Ravenol VMP 5W30. Used oil analyses show this to be a superb oil.

I will note that I'd suggest doing your oil sooner than the car suggests. Personally I do every 5k miles. Also look into having your transmission/diff fluid (and transfer case, if applicable) replaced every 30-50k. BMW claims that it's "lifetime fill"... yea right.

Doing regular fuel additive or oil additives every 15k miles or so wouldn't hurt, you could also add an oil catch can to prevent any carbon build up.
I also have ALWAYS used Liqui Moly Moly-Gen for my oil changes as well as MANN filters, my coworkers at BMW also all use Liqui Moly for their B58's as well. |
