Lando is an amazing person with humour that can fit in with nearly everybody and the difference with him is he can suffer fools gladly to a point, a rare thing in the quick witted world of F1 and a sign of matureness.

Thinking about Checo, if he stays second in the championship then I don't think there would be a reason to replace him after all, I don't see Max not agreeing with that, the trust is there with no drama as seen at the sprint first lap, so either Lando stays at an improving McLaren or moves to Merc as you suggested should a place become vacant there and of course Ferrari is always speculated upon.

Technically Checo could still drive for Red Bull in 2024. But that ain't gonna happen: too much bad blood between Verstappen and Perez + lately no consistency in Perez's performance (ups and downs).

During the Hamilton - Bottas era, Hamilton managed to get several WDC titles because:

• he is one of the best drivers around;
• the Mercedes car was a rocket;
• both Hamilton and Bottas had consistent excellent performance with that Mercedes rocket;
• Bottas was of great help (to the point that in some races he loyally followed team orders to invert track positions with Hamilton to get Hamilton more WDC points and victories).

Now, do you remember a race situation of Perez critically helping Verstappen in a Bottas fashion ever since the Monaco 2022 Q3 ?

Seeing Max's total domination in the 19 I don't think there is an actual need for Checo to actually 'help' Max now (as he's out in front mostly and easier to make strat) other than moving up to being the 'tail end charlie' to back up the RBR constructors points and of course his own drivers ones, which Checo would prefer rather than moving to a midfield car.

All the discussion about track limits. The rule existed already in the past but was not properly applied.

Remember how Hamilton violated that rule in Bahrain back in 2021. Bahrain was the opening weekend of the controversial 2021 season that ended with the legendary Abu Dhabi final lap drama. Ironically, Verstappen gave back the P1 track position to Hamilton in the closing stages of the 2021 Bahrain race because of a track limits violation. Hamilton won that opening race ahead of Verstappen with only a 0.745s margin. IMHO given the speed and time advantages resulting from dozens of track limits violations, Hamilton did not deserve that victory. A car is supposed to be driven on the circuit, not dozens of times off circuit. He should have gotten a penalty.

The only efficient way to stop drivers from doing this and to avoid annoying penalty discussions: gravel pits next to the kerbs of some violation-prone turns. But likely teams and drivers will complain about safety risks.
