2021+ M240i Mods

Hello Gang,

What mods are you currently running on your DME locked 2021+ M240i?

Here is what I have purchased so far, pending install:

Active Autowerke catted downpipe
AFE Air filter
NGK plugs
B58TU hpfp (unsure if will install)

Planned:

xHP st3 tune

Now, regarding a tune... anyone here with just a JB4? Are you happy with it?

Considering going the Femto unlock route, but unsure if it's worth it. Is DME Cloning necessary when going the Femto route? That's additional cost.

I'd be okay with shipping my DME to Finland for an unlock, but it would suck to get an OTA update or a dealer update and be back to square one. Anyone had this happen to them?

The jb4 is more than enough for a daily driver; it adds a lot of power while keeping the car reliable and safe.

The ECU unlock is better if you want to make max HP and push the car to the limit. But that's not the case for the majority of customers.

Doesn't the newer B58s come with the TU pump already/ a better pump? For my gen 1 I am upgrading to a TU pump since it needs it, but is that Tu pump in gen 2 and on of the b58? I am probably wrong just curious.

Isn't the 2021 a g series car? Those have a tu pump and you should be in the g 42 forum...

G series for the M240i started in model year 2022. Might have a TU pump which showed up in the Gen 2 B58s but not sure which models are the Gen 2.

Okay then yeah if the 21 is an f series then it doesn't have a tu.. all the g series ones do.

Anyone know if xHP is supported for '21 F22s? Their website only mentions 2010-2019 F series support.

I think the bigger question is what was discussed in previous posts here around your DME being locked as a 2021 model year car. With it locked you wouldn't be able to flash to the XHP. Unless you did a DME unlock.

I wonder if XHP says support up until 2019 as maybe 2020 when DME's were being locked from the factory? I don't know. If you could find someone on here with a 2020 or 2021 F series that has XHP installed they could answer this question for sure.

xHP flashes the TCU and is not reliant on DME from what I’ve researched.

Oh nice. I didn't realize that. I assumed all "flashing" tunes would be dependent on DME status.

My 2021 Model year DME was unlocked from FEMTO using MHD+. I’m still not able to flash tune it, they said I need a cloned DME now.
