F22 M235i - Good Initial Reliability?

So *knock on wood* it seems like the F22 has come with pretty minimal issues for a new release car.

Whispers here and there but nothing widespread or consistently wrong with anything on ours cars.

Does anyone have any experience comparing this to other new BMW's. Am I saying this to soon?

When i bought the car i figured i would get burned on something for buying a 1st year...

The only thing I'm noticing are people getting a large amount of condensation in their headlights/taillights, which while annoying and should still be fixed, is a relatively minor problem to have.

Oh, and wheel caps falling off.

I have an M235 and it lost a center cap but no other issues. Have a 2013 X1 28 with zero issues in 29 months, it was recalled oncebut got it back the same day. The only new BMW I ever owned that had a lot of minor issues was when the original X5 came out, the interior trim had a lot of issues but no mechanical problems.

Same here Dec 14th 2013 build, zero issues.

BMW issued a recall on the positive battery cover but that's it.

+2

Mine is Feb. 21/14 production date; March 8/14 ED. Zero issues.

No recall on record for mine. I wonder if your battery cover recall was an assembly line installation issue?

I had a defective manual transmission from the factory (replaced under warranty after many weeks of gingerly shifting into 2nd because it was grinding).

I have a rustling noise in the cabin now, like loose wires, it is somehow related to my seat because when I sit vertically it subsides. This noise is temperature dependent though, cold makes it worse.

Also there is a screeching noise of some kind (not A/C) in cold temperatures, like engine belt about to break, when the car gets warm it goes away.

Zero issues. Love my M235i. Fully enjoyed here in Germany and around Europe. Those buying other cars after not testing a 235i lose out lol!

M235i with a May 2014 delivery.

My amp died on the Harmon/Kardon leaving me with no sound for about 3 weeks as the part had to be shipped from Germany. I didn't even have the volume up at the time. Replaced under warranty.

Numerous rattles - fixed at the same time as the amp. Rattle free now!

I have this weird clicking sound when I'm at almost full lock going 5-10mph. I notice it at my work parking garage every morning. Will have it looked at during the oil service in a couple weeks.

Other than those little things, no problems... 11,000 miles.

I had the clicking sound, and was fixed simply by removing the front wheel in question, cleaning the surface where the wheel meets the brake assembly, and applying anti seize compound to this area as well. Dealer will do it for you.

So far, The plastic on the door handle on my 235i was broken from factory dint notice until now during the winter months here in Sweden, It just snapped off got it replaced though, And the sensor that shows if the rear end is closed freaked out recently had to replace it, Also due to the cold climate it got beaten up, Its constantly +5 during the days and during nights its around -2 to -10 c here. So the car has a hard time adjusting to the winter here :P And right now I'm hearing some weird noise from the front wheels sounds like its scratching against the plastic in the wheel arches. And then the last thing i have had issue with so far is the sensor that says wiper liquid is almost empty, Keeps spaming me in the car that is empty when its actually full. Also going to have that replaced soon.

Sems like this cars are not able to withstand the cold climate hopefully its rust protection is good enough because here in Sweden they use a lot of salt on the roads so we shall see if any rust appears on the car.

Seems like BMW haven't prepped the car quite well for the winter months.

2015 Xdrive i've had since late September 6500 Miles. We have had a rough winter here in NYC The car seems to be holding up pretty well. I may have a slightly bent rim not sure going to wait till it warms up before I check. Couple of creaks and rattles in the cold nothing too bad. I just replaced a center cap as well, there is a definite issue with them. I have to go around the car every few days and push them in because they start to push out. They don't seat well. It seems like pressure is building up behind them when the rotor spindle gets hot and starts to push them out very weird. They need to come up with a solution otherwise we will be replacing them often.

Took delivery of my '15 last week. Some connecteddrive apps and real time traffic information have not been working, and the option to "Update BMW Assist" is greyed out. As soon as the dealer has a loaner available they're going to take a look at it. They seem to think it could be a failure to load a certain code/program during delivery, or possibly a bad combox/sensor.

While I was in the service center, someone in a 135i began telling me about a friend who had a dealership buy back their m235i due to electronic malfunctions (radio/wipers would turn on automatically and randomly). My issue does not seem that serious, but anyone else had any idrive/electronics issues?

I feel so unlucky. I took delivery of my 2015 m235i drive on June 17, but have only had it for 2 weeks, since the other 2 weeks it has been at the dealer. First problem a very intermittant dry pump clanking sound that lasts for 30 seconds after you open the door. They replaced the valvetronic stepper motor, valvetronic computer, and ECU, but the problem still happens once or twice a week. Then now I have a SOS Call failure/malfunction warning on my dash every time I start the car. Also my BMW Remote app no longer is able to send commands such as "Ventilate" or "Sound the Horn" to the car. It used to work. I'm am now waiting to see what they say. The first thing they asked is if I plugged anything in the ODB2 port. I said I have only had the car at home for 2 weeks. No I have not. Sheesh.

I really want to love this car, but it is really hard to right now
