Do I need a new tire?

I did a stupid thing today and curbed my front left rim ... I also took a small chunk of rubber out of the sidewall (you can see it in the attached picture). They are not RFTs (original PSS). It does not go any deeper than the rubber. Is the tire still probably OK or have I put myself in the position of needing a new tire (and possibly two)?

I hate when that happens. I would watch the pressures but not get a tire just yet. And the rim can be repaired.

Thanks ... the rim is no issue (as you said, can be repaired). I did have a tire shop check it since I first posted and they said it's just cosmetic and not a safety issue so that's all good.

You just damaged the rim protector. It should be fine, but I would apply soapy water to the spot to see if there's any bubbles.

From that, it looks like you'll be fine.

Thanks ... all good. The tire's fine and the rim was repaired pretty quickly and easily.
