I'm kind of surprised this level of keyboard racing still goes on around here

Okay, not a rocket surgeon here, but regardless of track times by professional drivers on Laguna Seca, a drag race is straight line 0-60 and 1/4 mile performance. Looking at most all sports and performance cars regardless of make, model, and HP, most start to bunch up in these areas unless we are talking Hypercars or specialty cars (Demon/Hellcats).

Most are separated by less than 1 sec in the 1/4 mile and .tenths in the 0-60. Doesn't take a lot to even those numbers out w/ some relatively minor modifications and tuning.

Will a Stage 1 M235i beat a 1LE Camaro in a 0-60 or 1/4 mile run. No. Will it make a decent showing considering the difference in HP and TQ. IMO yes.

1LE is a 3.5 sec 0-60 car A stage 1 M235i is likely a 4.0 car (maybe a 3.9 on a good day). Camaro is 11.5 sec 1/4 mile car, Stage 1 M235i is probably a 12.5 or slightly better 1/4 mile car.

Certainly the M235i or M240i owner can a dump a couple of thousand$ and get to (or closer) to those numbers. Question is "Why". When most of time we are stuck "poking" along in traffic w/ the Teslas S, Porsches, and Ferrari's.

Goes to my point that most main stream sports and performance cars fall fairly close in straight line performance. Where they tend to separate is on the track.

I say let this one go... Perhaps if you had a stage II and other mods. Don't try it with a stage one. Check out this video where the m240 gets the jump on the SS, notice how the SS commences to walking him down, and puts the smack down after catching him.

Now there are some unknowns such as the type of tune that the M240 had, was the M240 AWD, was the M240 was stick/auto and if it was auto, did he/or she use their launch control. Other variables come into play as well, but just quickly judging the two vehicles the likelihood that you will lose are imminent.

You think just because Motortrend did 13.0 in the 1/4 in the M235i that you could too whenever you wanted? Puleaze. Big difference between magazine times and what Joe Schmoe is gonna do on the street.

Not surprising but I will add that the 2 series convertible (as seen in the video) is a whopping 250lbs heavier than the hardtop cars.

Ha ha.....yep. dumb. A former E92 owner friend of mine just traded his M in for a new 1LE. He's a serious track rat though so it made sense given the cost of expendables with the M tax and his car was beginning to get worn out to put it bluntly.
