Yep bmw is just doing their marketing and expanding their line up. As above mentions audi has been doing it and jaguar is now expanding their line up as well.

Sure you can have a 10,000rpm bespoke engine. Will you buy it when it comes with a 200 hour warranty? No way bean counters are going to let BMW build anymore S14/54/65/85 engines. To get the FI numbers and economy out of an evolution of the S65, you might get a 100hr warranty.
No one has driven this car from the general public or press that would disparage it in any way, so hold your horses....slow your roll....until it's in our hands and reviewed. T |

Anything is possible with BMW as recent developments have shown. Who knows if and when we'll see an M2. There's clearly a demand for it. Hell I'd like a new 1M with a hatchback but I wouldn't stretch it that far.
However I see no reason why a low volume M2 couldn't be priced and powered similarly to an M3 or M4... Yes I know this is isn't the traditional way but lots of these are being broken. Renders/renderings are all really good. |

I am on the same page with you buddy. But is the m2 going to be in the U.S as well as the m 235i?

My feelings about the M235i.......it is a nice car for the masses. I like it for the most part, except that awful rear quarter panel. That area looks so plane and out of proportion for some reason. The only fix is to aggressively flare it like the M2 rendering shows it. Now the car looks good from most angles, except maybe from a full perpendicular side view, that doesn't show the fender flare. I hope BMW build a M2! |

I couldn't agree with this more. I for one would welcome an I4 over yet another turbo I6. Making 360 hp. The only issue I have is that modern cars never seem to live up to the weight loss gains we as enthusiasts seem to expect. He's Tony Stark? But yes, seems to be another person stating their opinion as fact. |

http://blog.caranddriver.com/bmw-m-c...upe-successor/ So those saying there will be an M2, you don't know that but it would seem there is an appetite for one. For those saying there won't be an M2, again you can only say there ISN'T an M2 not there won't be one. Sadly we'll just have to wait and see |

It is not the M235i and the M2 that can't coexist, but the M2 and the M4 both powered by the same I6, even detuned in the M2 (cf. Cayman vs. 911).

You guys really think BMW is not going to come out with a proper rival to the CLA45 AMG? Sorry to disappoint, but the M235i is NOT on par with the CLA45 AMG. M2 is on the way and that I guarantee. Only thing I can't guarantee is a M2 Gran Coupe.

What style wheels are featured in this picture? Do these exist? It looks like a hybrid of the 3 series sport wheel and m5 wheel.

The head of the M-division is saying don't expect a 4-cylinder engine in an M car in the foreseeable future.
So if the M2 comes out, it'll be a 6-cylinder and probably FI. Even though an NA I6 in the M2 would be nice. |
