Millway camber plates with ST Coilovers NVH Problem
Hello all,
I bought Millway street camber plates last week and installed it to my 220D with ST Coilovers. After the installation, everything looked great but I had excessive noise from the top mount. With OE top mount, there is no sound at all, but this plates made too much noise on the road. I guess it is because of the gap between shock's head and bolt nut. Attached Youtube video shows the noise on the road and the gap. https://youtube.com/shorts/0u90mx1AUTg?feature=share I mailed to Millway and the place I bought it (ML Performance) and waiting for them to provide a solution. But I would like to hear your opinions! Especially if there is someone installed Millway plates to ST coilovers. Thanks in advance |

Driving the car without the damper/shock piston rod firmly torqued to the mount bearing is not really advisable, just causing wear between the bearing and piston shaft. This sounds more like an issue with the coilovers having a longer relief on the end of the piston below the thread than the OEM dampers. A spacer under the nut or temporarily several washers would be needed to allow the nut to be torqued correctly.

Because we tried to put washers after docking the plate and torqued the nut on that did not help at all :/ Edit: when we install the OE top mount without any washers to the same coilovers, there is no problem. |

My car has this exact same noise issue with the stock struts. Also running Millway Street camber plates. Let me know if you solve it!

I'm thinking it might be the coilover making noise, not the plate. Because OE top mounts seems very sound absorbing, i dont hear any noise with them. This is why, we will test it on a friend's M235i with Öhlins coilovers and see if it make that noise. Photo attached to show the different between OE strut and ST coilover (ST on right) |

Looks like KW /ST for F8x chassis has a square shoulder so you are good to go!

I bought ST XTA (that includes camber plate top mount) for my other car and it's both silent and provides more than -3 camber |

KW DDC Millway Streets
Hey guys, I recently installed millway street camber plates and at low speeds over uneven pavement I get a clunk sound that sounds like the camber plates to me. I have triple checked everything and even asked KW for a full warranty refresh on springs and bump stops on my DDC kit, nothing. still clunking. I am worried it is the camber plates... I put a bluetooth lapel microphone on the strut tops and went for a drive, recording the audio... and WEIRDLY I got none of the noise recorded that I heard with my ears in the cabin. This is doing my head in haha |

Yeah, I really was hoping to use these with no tradeoff as I am xDrive and dont want to do lower arms, but now I am considering camber knuckles and minor adjustment with arms FaRKle! might be able to comment on this, I could also add KMAC bushings to get camber and roll correction. I guess I am ging back to OEM tophats...

I had a similar situation with EDC struts and the street plates. Low speed clunking. Until swapping to Koni yellows and everything now is silent. Note: I did add the paper thin gasket between camber plate and strut hat, but I highly doubt that helped. |

My situation was that I had added camber plates and lowering springs (Eibach) and reinstalled the original struts. I noticed the noise immediately after install, thinking it was the plates as well. I lived with it, tightening bolts, wiggling things around, trying to reseat the spring, etc.. The EDC struts were under 60k miles and in hindsight quite corroded at the top of the strut body possibly even leaked. They worked, but seemed a bit "off" due to the stiffer spring install. It's entirely possible somewhere during the swap process that I damaged the struts to introduce the noise. A year later I installed the Koni yellows and back to passively damped silence. Again, just my situation.
