state Jersey inspection-visual

Has anyone with a non cat downpipe (but ok sensor checks) failed the visual at a state inspection in NJ?

Has anyone with a catted downpipe (again ok ODB2) failed the visual?

I'm looking at aftermarket downpipes and some of the catted ones LOOK less factory / with a catalyst than some of the non catted ones. I've have other cars fail visual at state inspection even with a cat that didnt look OEM enough so I'm asking before I plan on what I'm buying.

Can you even see the downpipe looking straight up at the car from the floor where the state inspection cameras are? I might have to jack up my car and remind myself if they can even see it.

Get a catted downpipe - the good ones cost you almost nothing in performance and save a lot of this kind of worry (and perhaps even keep the planet alive a little longer?)

Aftermarket (catted or not) will fail the visual inspection if they notice its not an OEM downpipe. So back to my question for NJ people: anyone passed or failed a state visual inspection with any aftermarket downpipe?

State free inspection? I'm looking at pics of the AA downpipe you have, doesnt look very OEM. That makes me feel better.

Correct - state inspection at a DMV state inspection facility.
