I did a resonator delete yesterday on my M240i, noise difference from the inside is only slight. But I made a comparison video for anyone debating. Sounds great from outside at least! I have active sound design still on in the video (fake engine noise through speakers) and I still think that is what drowns out even the louder exhaust note. I'll be turning that off soon. I paid $180 USD at an exhaust shop for anyone wondering, to cut out both resonators and weld two small sections of pipe back in.
Update: turned off ASD and still sounds nearly stock from the inside. Oh well, it was cheap enough! Update 2: I downloaded BimmerLink to manually control the stock exhaust flap, this made a noticeable difference around town and I can actually hear a nice growl from out back. So, if you get a resonator delete you need to spend the $30 on BimmerLink too! |

Hey, if you could actually hear the difference in the cabin with the windows up, it was money well spent lol I already feel the need to go louder. I did consider the Remus system, how do you like it? Maybe I could get the valved muffler!

Remus non resonated is great ! I personally love it. You definetely hear the sound difference from inside, I have a vert though…
Add a downpipe and you get more sound and more power

I’d love a downpipe, but I plan on keeping this car for another ~5 years (only got it 6 months ago) and I don’t necessarily trust a downpipe’d stage 2 car to last 5 years reliably 😂 stage 1 I’m fine with. Though I did download BimmerLink to control the stock exhaust flaps manually, and keeping them open really made a difference! I can actually hear the growl from out back unlike before.

I would like to chime in on this post to offer my experience with dual resonator delete on the M240i. I can echo the general consensus from others on this - 10-15% louder inside the car, very close to stock sound levels in Comfort mode, Sport mode and up there are many enjoyable pops and crackles accompanied by a more pronounced exhaust tone. No drone whatsoever, I am extremely picky with tone and volume as this is my daily driven vehicle. +1 for the OP, the video posted helped me greatly with decision making.

For what it's worth, I also deleted both resonators and really enjoyed the effect while everything else was still stock. However, since installing the high-flow VRSF downpipe, it's now a little too raspy in the lower RPMs for my liking. I'm going to add the resonators back one at a time, starting with the rear one, to see what configuration I like best. I'll take video/sound at each stage along the way to share.
