m240i 1 year later & finally saying hello!
Been on the forums for just a little over a year now. Really appreciate all of the help that I've been given and I'm glad that I have been able to continue to browse and find out more about this beautiful car.
It's been an addiction. My wife can't stand that I talk about it every single day. I came from a WRX and somehow did nothing to it - but, I haven't been able to stop myself from adding to the m240. It's my daily driver and I've put over 30k miles on it since last year. No problems so far and hope that it keeps on going for years to come! Picked up the car in February 2018 and have since added: - Dinan Midpipe - BMW MPE with CF Tips - Agency Power Intake - VMR V801 19" in Titanium Black Shadow 19x8.5 ET45 5x120 72.6 with 5mm spacers and 19x9.5 ET45 5x120 72.6 in 225/25/19 Front and 255/30/19 Rear) - FormulaOne Pinnacle Ceramic Window Tint 20% - this should have been the first thing I did as it makes a tremendous difference!! damn fine looking automobile!
i'm definitely going with a non-shade-of-gray for my next 2-series.

The melbourne red was my first choice and I don't see that many posted on here. I especially love how much the color brings out the line that runs along the car's side. Keeping it clean is a whole other story though - after a light drive in the rain and you can see so much dirt. |

Beautiful car. Not usually a fan of red but your car is clean!

Thanks! I used the Sony a7rii with the Canon metabones adapter. First photo was shot with the Canon 85mm ii f/1.2 , the middle set was on the 135mm f/2, and the last wide angle shot was with the Canon 24-105 f/4 with a b+w polarizer. Happy to answer any photo questions you may have!

Nope just the rear and all sides at 20%. With my lighter ivory interior, it's definitely not as dark as it could be and that's why I opted for 20% over 30%.
With reflections, the front can look tinted actually. My wife couldn't see me sitting inside the car when she was approaching it the other day so I guess it can be quite deceiving. Her car has 30% tint with black interior and my car is only a bit darker cause of my interior color. |

Nice! I think the longer focal lengths also really help for that compressed, editorial look. I ended up using the 135mm the most and it will probably continue to be my go to for car photos. Hope you get well soon and get back out to shooting!

Thanks - I totally agree that the 19's fit the car. I love the look despite there being some wheel gap with low profile tires. It actually photographs better than it looks. When walking up to my car, I see the gap all the time.
I can't compare how this looks vs. the stock 18's because I was running the horrible run flat tires at the time, but now it's another excuse to lower the car and eliminate the gap completely. |
