I added the smoke reflectors to my sapphire black M235 today.
I had difficulty because the paint for the bumper was actually attached to the reflector in some places... also the paint seemed to be making the holes the new reflector snaps into smaller than necessary. This might be a side effect that this is a new bumper after an unfortunate accident with someone that ran a red light back in November. Anyway, the good news it that they look great. Combined with the black kidney grills, and this is really something (IMO). |

Yup. Know lots of Audi guys that did that. I never had the guts to do that on my b8. I just ordered euro spec headlights and just swapped the whole assembly out.

Anyone else getting condensation in the clears? Mine started on the driver side, and the vendor is replacing that one. Today I noticed it on the passenger set.
Wondering if these all come from the same factory regardless of vendor. Did I get a bad set, or do they all do this? I hope not because I love the look when they don't have moisture in them. |

Mine get condensation, but it's never bothered me. There's not much you can do, it's just a plastic reflector with no weatherproofing in the back really. How do you stop the moisture?

Not sure I'm OK with this. The original amber ones weren't functionally any different and they never did this. When my replacement one arrives, I'll compare side-by-side.

I had some time to work on my condensation issue today. I'm lucky that I'm not one of the people that really struggle to get the old ones out of the bumper. I can get mine on and off fairly easily. I think on my next install I may use a little dish soap on the clips to ease them in and reduce any risk of cracking.
The vendor sent me a replacement for the driver-side. I had not noticed the passenger side condensation when I contacted him. Note that I did NOT buy mine from the vendor on these boards. (I didn't see his ads until after I had ordered.) I got mine elsewhere. The drive-side one had visible water inside that sloshed around, not just light condensation. First, there is no noticeable difference on the backs of the OEM vs. the aftermarket clear ones. There are no visible openings, drain holes, screw holes, etc on either one. On the clear ones, there does appear to be some glue on the seam between the clear front and grey back panel. I could determine no way to open them that didn't risk cracking them. So, since I have a spare now I drilled tiny holes on the top and bottom of one of them. Then I used a hair dryer to heat and evaporate the moisture by blowing on one end. The holes are visible, but you'd have to be really looking for them. When I blow air into one end, I can feel air leaking out of the seam at various points around the reflector. That seems to be the key issue. So, as an experiment I'm sealing both of them with clear 100% silicon caulk around the edges. I got the good stuff that should never discolor, but I was still as cautious as possible not to get any on the surface, just the edges. I'm hoping this works and will keep you posted. Anyone getting new ones, I'd suggest sealing them before install. Couldn't hurt, right? |

Estoril with smoked reflector
Just installed the smoked reflectors on my m240i. With the CF mirror caps and moonlight ragtop I think it all comes together very nicely.

Those are basically the ones I bought, just not from Ebay. They were called crystal smoke.

Sorry, thanks for fixing that for me!
I got the reflectors on amazon here: http://a.co/eXsOYwV, seems like a quality product and very responsive vendor. The installation was on a 240 with parking sensors, took 5 minutes for each side. |
