Man, sounds like it would be better to just get a CF wrap on my mirror caps until I save up for the OE ones. :/

Are there any RW success stories out there?

Damn I'm nervous now... I got these in October. My car is always garaged. I guess we will see what happens in the summer, i guess I'll just paint my OEM ones black. Sad that they won't warranty a manufacturing defect like that. Definitely won't buy from them again.

As far as they're concerned, it's not a defect...they consider it Customer Neglect

That may be their stance, but I don't support that because I have OEM CF for the spoiler that has zero defects and never been waxed....no "cloudiness" after a year whereas the mirror covers got those bubbles and cloudy look only after a few months.

Their product clearly doesn't do well in the sun unlike the OEM products (which explains the price difference).

That said, I bought them and assumed all would be well. It was a gamble for quality based on the price. I made the purchase with eyes wide open but still sucks I'm out a couple of hundred bucks.

Their policy is pretty lame. I have zero confidence that their product will hold up even if it is waxed often. I've never heard of having to wax cf to keep it from looking like ass. Also, even if you wax it constantly and have an issue they have no warranty, so wtf.

Their response:
Michael,

Yes waxing does help maintain the clearcoat of the products, just how waxing your car maintains the clearcoat of the paint. Our products use a softer clearcoat than your car does so that they are easier to install and are less susceptible to cracking during installation. Because of this the clearcoat is more porous. We recommend waxing the items once a month. Our products do not carry an expressed warranty, it is very hard for us to provide the parts at the price we do and provide a warranty. Many other carbon fiber companies that sell genuine items that cost 2-4x more than our items also do not provide a warranty. At the price point we sell our items at it is not possible to provide a written warranty. Longevity of items varies heavily on how the items are cared for.

With that being said we still do warranty some items. For mirrors we will warranty them out to 4 months after purchase. However we cannot warranty items 1+ year after purchase. If you neglect your car and the CF products they will not last. However I have had our parts on my personal car for over 2 years without any problems.

I would encourage you to do some more research about us and our products, you will find that thread does not constitute the majority view of our customers. We have thousands of customers that are happy with their products. I would be extremely surprised if you found another negative thread about us.

Matt

I have had many CF products over the years and yellowing and hazing seems to be primarily heat/UV related. Ive had problems with CF near any heat areas like hoods. The tiny bubbles ive seen in all the products ive purchased. From expensive OEM BMW mirror caps to Seibon hoods. The stress cracks though should not happen and must certainly be product failure that they should Warranty.

Just add to my previous post, i have tried multiple waxes and sealants none of which protected against hazing or yellowing. Their line about waxing is just a cop out. I think its an inevitable problem with carbon fiber and clearcoats when subjected to heat or UV. Better clearcoats or processes may delay degradation but seems to me that it will happen depending on time and how often it is in these conditions..

To add to their response; we'll warranty the product at around 4 months...not true. when I emailed them about my bubbles and cloudiness it was somewhere between 3 and 4 months.

As I said...OK was told to wax them. which BTW I did and it didn't do anything.

Softer more porous clear coat that requires waxing monthly? I call BS! That sounds like a cheap and poor(ous) clear coat.

Can't provide a warranty because the price is so low? That's nuts! If the product was higher quality there wouldn't be complaints. It seems THEY don't have confidence in their own products.

He says the majority of customers don't complain? He continues to evade the point! Take care of the customers who DO have legitimate concerns with product quality.

His response is simply a runaround. It's a shame. We should keep updating this thread to keep it fresh in the Internet search engines. When potential RW Carbon customers are out their doing their research they will more easily find customers that had concerns with RW quality. If people want to buy from RW then great. It's only fair, though, that they understand what customer service to expect AFTER the sale.

Remember if you buy something from Asia and you want warranty coverage, how much it will cost for "you" to send it back. You won't get cheap shipping to them like they got to you. I had a QA issue with something and they were all over replacing it without any questions asked....but I had to ship it back to them and when I figured out the cost, I decided to live with it.

I guess we missed that clause in their warranty disclaimer policy about exposing their products to sunlight at your own risk.

I wouldn't recommend getting their rear diffuser either. I had significant fitment issues with mine - the tabs were completely misaligned, so I had to sand some of them quite a bit just to get the thing to clip in.
