Head unit Idrive failure Bimmercode

I posted this in coding forum as well. Since it is an Idrive issue I posted here as well.
I have been coding with bimmercode for a while now with no issues.
I tried to code my 2019 x3 and my 2018 230i start up animation. On the x3 it failed and in the 230i worked. The next day the head unit is dead on both cars.
Now in bimmercode there is a red dot next to Head Unit and the restore fails.

Anyone else have this issue or know a way to fix it. Please help

Did you try unplugging the battery for a while or resetting the unit by holding volume/power for 30 seconds?

Done both and checked all the fuses as well. Thanks

I have a feeling the dealer will find out that I coded the car and will void my warranty.

Although this isn't an answer to your question, but I am incredibly surprised at how both head units died the next day. More than likely faulty connection.

I use Bimmercode often and very interested in finding resolution for your situation as well. Seems like BimmerCode is far more dangerous than it seems.

Update:

I purchased a new OBD adapter The Vgate which was previously recommended by bimmercode its not anymore. Hence it timed out during coding and bricked both head units.
With the new adapter I was able to restore. Everything worked minus the navigation.
My wife took the X3 in for service and there was a recall on the back up camera anyway. All fixed under warranty.
They told her that there has been issues with the navigation systems lately.

A stressful week for me. If I only know Bimmercode was not compatible with the Vgate adapter that they previously recommended.

As for my 230i I'll take it in when I need service. I can care less about bmw's navigation. I like Waze especially for the police and camera alerts

Glad you got this working. Any idea why they don't recommend the vgate anymore? That is what I always used, though I have not used it recently.

Stephan from Bimmercode states it now has connective issues and he doesn't recommend. It used to work flawlessly for me. I haven't used it in a while since I coded almost everything. Last week I used it to change the animation screen to Christmas and boom black screen of death.

I've seen this with Carly more often but I'm surprised it happens on BimmerCode as well.

If you need help with the 230i, let me know and I can help you get that fixed remotely if you have an ENET cable.

Hi Steve, I might need your remote assistance, besides an ENET cable, what would I need?
