Onto what is the passenger supposed to hold when I'm driving over 3/10ths?

I took the wife for her first drive in the new M240i yesterday, and no more than three blocks from home she said "There's no passenger hand hold in this car!" Well...who knew!

I haven't bought a new BMW in decades. Is this how they are now - the passenger just gets to slide around on the slippery leather chair when I'm not even pushing the car? This is not a biggie in the scheme of things, but it certainly came as a bit of a surprise.

On our way to the golf course thought "what a great day for going golfing in a ragtop which hold 2 sets of clubs in the trunk with the top down".

You mean a second handle on the center console? Yea that'd be nice.. My passengers (primarily fiance) seems to be okay with the single right-hand handle on the door, can use elbow and all to support when needed for hard lefts and grip the handle tight and lean hard right for the hard right turns lol

You know what they really should include is a knee pad on the passenger side like they have standard on the driver. I realized this after a day at the performance center when I got banged up pretty good during my time in the passenger seat.

I tried retrofitting one I got from Hasser that he took off his RHD car but it didn't fit quite right unfortunately.

This! Becoming part of my routine whenever we go out. Not having an explanation not helping either :-).

I am currently driving a loaner 3 series (330i msport) while the 2er is in for an ABS sensor diagnostic, and quickly realized the lack of "knee-pad".. I get that the cabin is a hair wider but I still think the driver should always have this feature. I could see this being a must-have for the 3/4 series guys, especially anyone doing some track time. First car I've ever owned that had one, will be hard to live without it moving forward (1st world probs).

I thought about how much I enjoy an xDrive convertible in the rain. What a nice little car.

I find the adjustable side bolsters and the door grip do just fine. Wife never complains. Not sure how you slide around on this Dakota leather unless you're putting some seriously slippery conditioner on it.

Funny you should mention that - I didn't know those seat adjustments were present until I came across them in the manual last night. I just went to check, and yup, there they are.

They may help, but the wife is awfully small (and getting smaller), so we'll see. I did notice that she'll need to move her chair forward for the door grip to be of real use. She'll rarely be in the car, so it may be something I can ignore.

I don't think I've ever put any conditioner on a leather chair, so that's not the source of the sliding. I got the car last Tuesday, and except for sitting on the dealer's lot for a year, the leather is the way it came from the factory.

Anecdotal Comment: Jeans, or any kind of pants with rivets is gonna mess up the leather. If your sliding around either your skinny, or...

The wife is 5' 6" and weighs 112#, so definitely skinny. Me...not so much, plus I have a wheel to hold onto.

You're 30 miles from one of this country's great race tracks. Find a club to drive with there, attend a few events to learn what your car can do in a controlled environment, and the urge to go fast on the street may diminish. I know it has for me and for many other drivers of high-performance cars.

My thought today - vehicles on the road keep getting bigger and bigger. My neighbors just bought a big-ass Infinity SUV. The thing looks huge in their garage.

The 2 is small and bucks the trend. I think that's cool.

Usually it is a random mix of these lines in whatever order the circumstances demand (I edited out all the profanity, cause this is a family forum):

-are you ever going to get going?
-are you ever going to stop?
-get out of my lane - those white lines on the road are a hint
-wakey-wakey, stop looking at your phone
-why would anyone do THAT to a car?
-maybe I'm not as personality disordered as I think - still no vanity plate

But at least once or twice each trip I get to reflect that it is totally weird that my car is way less expensive than most of the cars around (at a light, parking area, etc) but I wouldn't trade 'up' for twice the price.

1. What's the compressible black rubber round thing next to the gas cap?
2. What's the smaller reservoir and cap with coolant about and does that draw antifreeze from the bigger reservoir? If it does, why does it have a cap I can't open?
3. Silver trim piece on the convertible top button is too hot to touch (-105 degrees in Dallas area)
4. Tires treads more durable with X drive.
5. Gas tank is too small
6. Sunset Orange 240i X drive. Seems to incite very aggressive driving from other cars/drivers, especially other BMW drivers.
