M235i Dyno Day

Okay so here is my AWD dynojet dyno results. (No I did not have previous dyno results prior to going FBO, so I already know it's pointless, but idc) I did it for the experience and to have fun.

I went to Infinite Speed & Performance in Beltsville, MD. The guy was overall very nice. He did some mini pulls after strapping me down to make sure I was secured. The 1st one I moved a lot and he tighten me down and did it again and adjusted the straps before doing the real pulls. So here we go...

Went to do the first pull and the DSC was not deactivated. So he deactivated it, and put the car in dyno mode (was not aware we had such mode)

1st Pull: guy got into it and let out a bit and then got back into it. He said he got cold feet with the car on the rollers (he was saying he does a lot of RWD BMW and rarely AWD) and didn't feel 100% but when he got back into it I made 397whp / 437tq.

2nd pull: guy got into it and stayed in for the entire pull. Nice run. I made 420whp / 454tq.

I only did 2 pulls cause I was satisfied and I didn't have pre mod pulls so I didn't really care. I only did this for the experience and to have fun.

NOW, I got my graphs straighten out....

The first one is the initial (uncorrected, no smoothing) 420/437

The second is uncorrected smoothing 5 (397/450)

The third is SAE smoothing 5 (374/425)

BM3 is probably more aggressive - thank you posting and sharing.

Get it on the dyno and share results. Lol. 85$ for 3 pulls but I saw what I wanted after 2 pulls so didn't bother

Nice to see the outcome. I just pulled the trigger on the exact same hardware (VRSF FMIC, CP and DP). I went with the BM3 93 OTS. Haven't installed them yet. Friend of mine just got his own shop and will be doing some dyno pulls after I get everything installed. Super stoked to see the difference. I need to do some stock dyno pulls just so everyone can see this difference.

The first one is not 420 - that’s just a issue with the dyno spiking at the end of the run. It’s 397whp.

If you read the entire thread it tells you what adjustments where made to the graphs. Given that was uncorrected 0 smoothing aka right there right now it was 420 due to the spiking. Once smoothed out and corrected it was 397 whp. Spikes are averaged out giving that #. All in all 400 to the wheels. I'll take it! 😊

not bad, go with the uncorrected smoothing 5 (397/450).

Smoothing removes anomalies in the Dyno graph, i.e. spikes and dips that occur from the dyno but are not actually representative of the cars performance.

Uncorrected means the actual reading of now the car performed that day, on that Dyno. So if it's cold out, a turbo charged car will perform better. If there is less humidity, the car will perform better.

SAE Corrected is a US standard set of conditions. 77* Fahrenheit, 0% humidity. This allows you to measure your progress on different Dyno runs on different days with different conditions my accurately - by simulating a set standard external conditions.

Also, different regions of the world will have different power/torque measurements (HP, PS, KW etc...) and different standard correction conditions (SAE for US, ECE for Europe, JIS for Japan etc...). Hope that helps.
