M235i track tool. Heating problem...
Hi
I'm building a track tool from my M235i. I have modified it a little There is a Vagner EVOII intercooler, DO88 water cooler, additional CSF oil cooler, mosselman oil thermostat, AFE intake, aluminum hoses, complete exhaust with downpipe and many mooooore. I still have problems with the temperature. Oil gets too hot on the track (140⁰C) nad water temperature goes up to 112⁰C. Transmission also is reporting high temperature. I'm thinking about changing oil cooler for a larger and put new hoses. OEM pipes are little to thick I think. I was also thinking about new cooler mounted in the fender. The OEM mounted on the radiator is too small. What do you think? |

CSF oil cooler is garbage - go with something bigger and better. I would also consider changing that intercooler. The Evo 2 is one of the worst track intercoolers out there.

The oil temp is a bit high, but the water temp is the same as driving in traffic on a warm day, no-issue there. I have all the same cooling stuff you have and haven't gotten the oil that high ever on track, is your heat exchanger plugged up or something?

At a minimum, you'll need to run MAX COOL settings on BM3 or MHD, consider converting to water + water wetter for the coolant, upgrade the oil cooler (ER makes a unit, but you might want to see what's offered on your side of the world. The CSF unit is barely better than stock.) |
