Swirls and scratches are the bane of my existence. Not to mention the a-holes who fling open their doors, or the one who backed into my car and ruined the wrap on the rear passenger side.

EDIT

Painting is going to be more expensive, especially if you want to get it done right. I looked into getting mine painted and the quotes were way more than the wrap.

To the OP, congratulations.

To the owner of the wrapped one, takes guts. Way to go. Beauty.

I need to do this. I really REALLY need to do this. Yes, I will be getting a new car but I am getting this wrapped!

Details please! What's the brand of wrap you used?

Mehim, $1600 is cheap for a wrap! I got quoted around $4k-$5k for some 3M brand. I love the Alpine white so much that I went with XPEL clear wrap in the full front and ceramic pro on the rear and sides. Total was $2.5k.

Also, how is a paint job cheaper than $1600? I would absolutely expect the paint job to be nearly 8-10k for my F23. Am I insane?

Not cheaper. Bout 4-5k but will last for years. You have to hand wash wraps and they deteriorate within 2 years. This is all words from a local detailer.

The quotes for painting I got were all around the $10k USD range. My wrap was a third of that cost.

Is it true that wraps deteriorate within two years? I would expect a healthy 4-5 years out of them.

My car is hand washed anyway. I have a pretty awesome guy that does all the hand washing and detailing so upkeep won't be an issue.

That sounds about right for a top-quality repaint in an expensive part of the country. It might cost even more in a less expensive part of the country where full repaints aren't as common and the competition isn't nearly as stiff.

If taken care of properly, wraps can last a long time. Typically they last about five years.

EDIT

Mine is going to last about 3 years, because it got abused driving across the country and back; including driving through a sandstorm in New Mexico. Also, people have run into my car as well as flinging their vehicle doors into it.

Owners who do not live in the Southwest don't always appreciate the environmental demands upon car finishes that exist in that environment.

Windshield replacement in that environment is just another expense to be expected. And for a higher-end car like ours today, it makes sense to have the front part of the vehicle wrapped with Xpel or an equivalent. This is, as always, just my 2¢.

Got a 2018 in the same color with oyster.
Best car I have ever owned, have gotten more positive comments on it than all my other cars combined, including my cobra.
Why would anyone want black, gray, silver, or white.
(Let’s not start a color discussion)

I hope it's a 230i. BimBim we need more representation for 230i's. Add minor tunes and we have more torque and can hang except on long straightaways. When I tracked my car on a windy f'ing course I kicked ass.

Beautiful...you certainly picked the optimal lighting moment of the day, and the orange BMW pigments sure do love the sun! Well done!
