Think I got mine for my 228 MSport from Bimmerzone 6 yrs ago but I think BMW sells them now. The Bimmerzone one was a BMW OEM item sold in Europe at the time. Got one directly from BMW for my wife's X1. About $150 for the tire/wheel, then you can go to Harbor Frieght for a scissors jack and lug wrench.

No no don't do it. That one only fits the standard brakes NOT m performance brakes. I asked them about that one and they talked to a"bmw" guy there. The site even lists that it fits on the car. But according to them it will not.

I'm at the point that I am just gonna strap down a full sized spare to the rear trunk floor for long trips/track days. There is no compact spare "donut" that's adequate for a long haul or highway speeds, so in the event of for 2-300 I can simply get a matching wheel with a mediocre tire, to get the car wherever I'd need to end up.
Been after something decent for a while and this is the best I can think of..

For those in bad weather climates running summer and winter wheels and tires, one from your off season setup is a perfectly reasonable spare option. Personally I've gotten home on 3 Blizzaks and one PSS and it wasn't an issue in the slightest.

I'm considering getting one of these https://modernspare.com/product/2013...-complete-kit/ for long road trips. Maybe a little pricey @ $360 + $45 shipping but it clears the front M Sport brakes and might be lighter than other options. |

There is a compromise solution that we use in the winter, which is to carry a spare tyre only, not the wheel. Then when the rears need replacing, I use the spare as one of the new ones and one of the old tyres as a spare.
You can actually get quite a lot of stuff inside the tyre, so you don't lose that much space in the end. Of course, this is no use at the actual point of failure, but being run-flats, the odds are that I can get to a tyre fitter on the runflat. It's much easier to roll up to a fitter and just say "How much to fit this tyre?" than "Do you have an X/Y-Z 95Y etc. that matches? This is more for when I'm doing the long haul down to the Alps and with winters, it might be difficult to get a matching tyre i.e. avoiding a 2-day wait or similar while the right one arrives. It also works of course, because the winter setup is square. For summer, if you're square, it might be a reasonable compromise. And the new tyre in the trunk will eventually get used when you replace. Obviously not so effective if you're staggered.

I always assumed the m235i came with m performance brakes. Am I wrong? Are these m sport? I used to know by the color, but apparently m performance can come in blue. I will have to double check my sizes.
The m sport should be 340mm while mperformance is 370mm it I remember correctly. |

Ummmmm, am I the only one that realized you can have a spare, and if the offset doesn't allow room for the caliper, know that you can just have a spacer handy too for clearance!?
As a matter of fact, the great thing about the spacer is you can order exactly what you need, and not have too much, or too little. Especially when we are talking about a couple of mm's being the issue. Now that wasn't hard was it? Especially because it's only temporary, to get you home, or to the dealer. Not a problem if you just limp it there... If you're planning long hauls, then yes, I would just opt for a regular wheel/tire setup that works and can get you hundreds of miles and not cause anxiety, lol. Or as noted elsewhere, a plug kit at the very least. |

Grey - 17s and some 16s Blue (THP or 6 Cyl standard) - 18s and some 17s Red / Yellow / Orange - 19s and some 18s See pics for difference (sorry not the best) the blue ones are on my F23 with Apex 18s, red are F31 with Vorsteiner 19s. The BBK is the same F2x vs F3x with the exception of rear rotors, they're different to accommodate parking brake. If you buy the kit you'll notice rear rotors are not included, this is why.

What’s the added benefit? Minimal saved space? You get a matching wheel and have the benefit of if you ever curb one, just swap it out, and a full size tire will take you as far as you need to go. I’ve had days of waiting on a new tire in this size to come in. Why risk it? |

The 2 series compact spare kit from
bimmerzone fits our 2020 f23 M240i front and back (blue M calipers and rotors) without spacers. I tested the fit and it works. The compact spare for my 2009 JCW r55 MINI Clubman needs a 12mm spacer to clear the rear JCW brakes, but the tire/wheel/jack/tool tray fits nicely out of the way in the spare well. On the other hand, the compact spare/etc. strapped to the floor of the trunk of the M240i convertible does take up up a bit of real estate. Last edited by cristo; 05-24-2020 at 06:12 PM.. |
