Why? That track is for low-powered handling cars. Our cars were designed for Mosport's GP course, Watkins Glen, Mont Tremblant, and the like.

This is only my 2¢, of course!

You're 100% right, honestly even my buddy said it would be a stupid fast car on that track, we plan to also hit Canadian tires track as well.

Well, in this circumstance, here's what they say: "Hey, it's still a race track!"

And they're right!

I had a question man, how'd you like the 19s? I have 18inch BMW stock rims on Mich PSS's and although they're great i wanna go to PS4S's on some 19's. Why'd you switch to an 18 inch set up?

Lets set something this year and get out there love the build!
19's were nice for DD'ing but the OEM's were too narrow for me, even thought the ps4s's stuck like glue lol. I went 18's to save weight, add track width and to run R comp tires. 19's are still in the forecast in the future again, just minimum 8.5/9.5 next time around.

Sure, I should be at Cayuga (TMP) a couple of times, but can't run the CSCS group until I switch to Pirelli TrofeoR'S

Right on, my Oems were the 18 alloys. Nice rims with some pilot super sports. I plan to go 19s with those ps4s as I hear great things about them. Are you on studs or stock wheel bolts?

Ultimately, no. If I wanted a car to keep stock and enjoy as is long term though, the M2C is appealing, but I'm not an "off-shelf" type of guy, never have been. And after a track day experience at Mosport in the M2C, it feels soft in comparison to my car (obviously..) which brings me to this equation - The M2 costs much more up front (esp in Canada). Then add in all of the respectable track mods required and you're basically doing everything I did with that added cost of the car itself. It would cost substantially more all-in to build an M2 to this state. Not to mention the M2 didn't exist when this journey began..

The F2/3x chassis allowed me the flexibility to purchase the two largest cost components (BBK & CS's) at heavy discounts. This wouldn't' have been available to me in a brand new M2. FFWD to today, I'd still do it, a) these cars have dropped a lot in pre-owned value, and b) they still provide the best bang for buck in performance in the BMW coupe division from what I see out there. The F22 is a great chassis, very stiff and shows its true colours even more with the respective mods and driving ability. There honestly isn't much out there that I can't pace with, aside from cars worth 3x the purchase price

Yea the 19's look nice for sure, and the PS4S's are amazing tires in any size!

Calabogie, Mosport GP/DDT and Shannonville for sure as they're all within 2 hours from me. Cayuga would just be mostly for fun and to see my T.O buddies It's a small track and a bit rough but would run lower boost settings to aid in 2nd gear traction.

Shannonville is by far the cheapest GP track to get on, it's just a bit "rough" in some spots. They have new ownership and plan to do upgrades as they can, still a fun track but can kill your tires in some of the concrete sections that are ripped apart. I mean, they still have GP Motorcycle races so if they can hack it, I'm sure we can too lol.

This is the reason I went with the M240i; buying an M2 made no financial sense.

I waited until I could find the build I wanted (RWD, MT, no sunroof) at $10K off MSRP, put $14K into getting basic upgrades done, and then went to the track with a reasonably satisfactory street/track car. I've put another $2K in performance parts into it since; all-in, I'm at about $55K with a car that does pretty much what I want it to.

The only unsolvable issue is the weight. OMG...the weight!!!

At least you don't have to worry about the sunroof cassette! When I was looking for my car I only considered slicktops. When I got to the dealer I found out it had a port installed diff too! I instantly put down a deposit

You found a gem for sure! Future state I plan to do the carbon roof skin swap and delete the sunroof assembly/ metal roof cover. Probably roll cage at the same time which still won't net a lighter car, but at least drop the weight to a lower position lol. This is a few years down the line, though. I still want to enjoy the car for what it is (a street car) and then possibly the iR bodywork and a bigger tire setup

They'e definitely not light, lol. At least it helps keeps the tires planted

If I could get it under 3400lb in the future I'd be happy.. currently 3490 w/ sunroof only because of the lighter wheels/bbk's (you'd surprised how light the GT calipers/rotors are compared to OEM) otherwise it'd be over the 3500 mark for sure. Never had a chance to weight it in stock form.

Any issues with overheating? Limp mode? IAT?
How is the lag with the intercooler?

No issues overheating, not much lag, but I did notice it takes 100-200rpm more to really hit hard, but pulls harder to the top after that.

Ideally I got the core for the added cooling/surface are knowing a) I'd loose a bit of bottom end power, and b) have intentions of PS2 when the stock turbo eventually chokes. Had I not had plans for PS2 or long track days, I'd have done the 5"HD core instead.

They have a midrange model called the competition that’s bigger than the 5, but smaller than the race. And it’s good to hear that it’s not pulling timing or getting too hot. Do you have any logs you’re willing to share?

And an 200rpm for spool..hmmm.

It wasn't a legible amount to suggest any more lag than that, maybe 500rpm tops? I have logs I can share from pulls, just nothing on track for long term monitoring. I watch my gauges constantly through my JB4 mobile app and it's always solid, never above regular operating temps..

Yes, please! More data always helps.
Disappointing that there is lag at all, but if it does what you say, how can i complain.

It's the size of the core that causes the "lag" and pressure drop. It makes up for it up top, though. Also, with a proper flash tune I feel it'll wake back up. I am still running the JB4 to date, so will know a bit more on the change in feel once I get a BEF on it.

I will get some fresh logs soon once the car is back on the road
