Carbonio vs. US Mill Works Front License Plate

I swapped my US Mill Works front license plate to Carbonio. I was really tired of the side tow hook license plate look. Both designs were awesome and sturdy. However, the Carbonio frame starts to slant downwards after a few months of driving. It is not really an issue since I will readjust it with the tools provided.

I had the carbonio and hated it. It eventually broke through on the flimsy plastic honeycomb grill. I went with a Big Mike's instead. Extremely solid, and really easy quick release system.

Switched from US Millworks to Carbonio about a week ago. Can't say I'm crazy about the Carbonio so far. Seems flimsy as fuck for $120. You'd think at that price, they'd make the rubber bumpers as a rubber over threaded metal and allow one to screw them onto the mount, rather than some cheap stick ons that'll probably fly off soon. US Millworks is infinitely more solid, but I'm not a fan of offset mounting.

Glad you posted this. I was worried that this could happen. This helped me decide on which to choose.

My Carbonio went on 20 months ago and appears not to have shifted since then.

I plan to remove it on July 1st, when the state's requirement for a front plate is lifted.

The Carbonio does feel more flimsy compared to the US Mills Work. However, I got no problems with it, even during the few snowstorms. My only issue is it gradually slants down after a few months and I'll have to readjust it. As for the honeycomb attachment, I'm always worried it will rip the honeycomb off, but so far so good.

Also, if you can do an in-office pickup at their Toronto location, you'll get a good discount

Wish NY would lift it.

I was wondering why i have so many rust flakes on my front bumper and turns out it's already rusting...

UPDATE: since it's difficult to keep the screws tight, adding a heavy license plate frame will cause the whole frame to slouch a bit.

I got mine coated with Cerakote, because it rusted as well.
Other then that it’s been great.

Carbonio broke my grill

I installed a Carbonio plate mount on my 2020 M240i right after I bought it. Seemed to work well, but a little fiddley to get adjusted correctly.

I was washing the car and the hose snagged on the plate mount and broke the grill, snapping the plastic mesh that it mounts to. I zip tied the grill back together and remounted the Carbonio, but would like to replace the broken grill eventually.

The grill replacement part is relatively cheap, but does anyone know how hard it is to get to the part and replace it? Thanks.
