A new stock e46 M3 (if you can still find a new one) costs 5-10K more than the e92 335i on average.
Plus the e92 is meant to be a daily driver. Now if you are looking to buy a used M3, well, I would rather buy a used 911.

ok the m3 is great, but what about street driveablility? i think the 335 wins in that case.
