f23 front speaker wires info

hi,my car had base nav headunit,no tweeters.
so i fitted hk speakers front/rears and under seat and added sails for front tweeters.
do i now have a 3 way system?
i believe the front speakers and under seat subs are connected using 2 wires?

Yes, the front speakers, regardless of audio option, have only 2 wire from the amp. Now, in your case I believe the amp is in the head unit and not in a separate amp in the trunk (boot). Regardless, the HK mid-range speakers have a blocking capacitor in the wires that go to the tweeter. The capacitor blocks low frequency audio from going to the tweeter.

No, you will still only have a 2 way system. The factory wiring is set up so that the mids and hi's are one element, just with a crossover or filter to separate the mids and hi's. In order to get a true 3 way system, you need to separately control and amplify each speaker, meaning you need 6 channels (for bass and front only) or 8 channels if you run rear speakers. This is doable but you need to run new wires from the amp to the tweeters to get a true 3 way system.

update

that confirms what i thought.
i bought a replacement stereo iso lead.
it splits all speaker wires.
so i get 8 wires output and 8 wires input.
bear with me on this one guys.
8 wires output will supply my audison bit 10 hi-level input wires (4 channels)
then 8 wires from amp join the iso input (supplying the speakers)
then the bit 10 supplies signal to another amp that will feed my aftermarket hertz 10" subs.
its gonna be propper bo.

If memory serves, you only have 4 signal wires from the H/U, F&R L&R. The amp (factory) sums the signal and uses it for the bass output into 6 channels. F&R, L&R and Under seat L&R.
If you want a sub out signal it can only be obtained by one of the following ways: Tech PnP harness, an amp that sums the 4 inputs and has a dedicated sub signal output for a sub amp (JLVXI or others), or a multichannel amp that sums and amplifies the signal (like an 8 ch Audison or similar). The distinction being "SIGNAL" vs. "Powered" outputs. I personally uses the Tech PnP adapter w/o sub signal, directly to a JL VX1 600/6, and a sub out RCA to a JL XD600/1 sub amp. The Vxi amp has a sub out signal that is controlled by the DSP so I can control the xovers and sound from the VXi amp.

update time

ive had this system in several cars now,so i know it works.
powering the tech way through the subs works for the fronts and under seat subs.
the way im doing it powers every speaker and each is adjustable.
the bit 10 does all the adjustments via my laptop.
the iso lead was only £20.00 gbp
every wire is populated on it,it has 8 wires out,8 wires in.
no running cables to each speaker as oem wires are used.
2 pods are being made for my hertz 10" subs from visual ice here in the uk.
these should arrive after new year.
il post updates as i go
