BMW Lebanon got 2 2 series last week. Both sold in one day!
Mineral gray 220i sport package with M steering wheel!
Estoril blue M235i "pictures posted earlier by bimmer post"
Both colors are new in my opinion compared to previews generation paint finish. I liked them both.
New BMW design seems to handle very well dark color "details wise".
Before, a black 1 series coupe for example, won't show its spoilers inserts because they are black... Today, a black 2 series would still show its black inserts in the fenders because there's chrome highlights around the openings that catch the eye...
I parked my 125 coupe back to back to the 2 series, the new generation is a huge upgrade in design and materials used. Nothing to envy its bigger brother, the 4 series.

Conservative design typically correlates with higher sales. The volume of 1, 3, 5, and 7-Series you see on the road typically don't have the M-Sport workings. They're less off-putting to your average buyer. You always have the option to spec up your car to look the way you'd like, and in this case, it's not much of a cost premium versus, say, a sport package-equipped model.

They can capitalize on both demographics by increasing the margin of conservative vs. radical styling options.
Or people don't want to spend $3k for M-sport on a $30k car.

Good thing there's an option then.

I find it frustrating that by spec'ing the M sport you find yourself limited in colors and trim options ... Even more true with the 3-4 series where an M sport cannot be had with saddle brown interior. Probably not a problem in Europe and Individual program, but in the land of the short term lease ...

I would say it is not as big as the E46 especially in the back seat. The backseat is a 1 series size, the front is bigger yes.

Lol no worries and thank you for the compliments I was just shocked to see my wife and I on the front page of Bimmerpost this morning. I don't even remember seeing you taking the pictures(my wife does) I was more interested in getting a hands on look at the 2 series since I didn't think I would be able to see one until they hit dealer lots.

Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the car in person even more-so since I own a 128, they really have improved the materials fit and feel(not that it was all that bad) as well as the crap seating position that is/was my biggest gripe about the current chassis you now sit down in the car not on it.

How would you guys rate the room in the rear. The M235i would be my daily driver to work and our 7yr old and 9yr old would be in the back at the weekends. This would work easily I guess as other have said that even 5'10 adults would be ok for shorter trips in the back?

Great pics by the way OP thanks, Sneak claim those royalties!

I dd my 128 now and to be honest the back seat is a waste although I am 6'1 and my wife is 5'8 so our seats are kinda far back. For kids depending on how big they are you maybe good for a little while but for long term I would say look at the 3 or the 4 series they're built more for that role. Anytime we have company my wife's car which is a 328 wagon becomes the taxi. I should note we don't have kids so I have never tried to fit a child back there just adult friends.

As far as short trips they would have to be under 5'8 to fit comfortably even for short trips, there just isn't that much head or leg room back there in either car.

I would say the back seat is small ... I sat in the car and pushed the driver seat to my comfort level then looked behind there was only a leg space of 4 fingers (using my hand as a measure)... My kids hate riding my E90 because of that though it is a 4 door ... In the 2 series getting in and out is a real hassle ... Your kids will hate you. Do them a favor and get at least the F30. The 2 series is for couples with no children that is my 2 cents

I'm 6'2" and my wife's 5'3". We stuffed my 6' dad in the back of our old 135i for a three hour trip. He survived. It didn't look terribly comfortable, and there's no way he'd have fit behind me, and if my wife were much taller, he would have been pretty miserable.

One note about the E82 though, the power seats didn't move forward very far. The manual seats flipped forward much further, which made getting in an out a lot easier. Either way though, getting in and out was worse than actually being back there, it was a pain, worse than the E92, which had larger door opening and allowed easier entry/exit. Room wise, the E82 was about the same as the E93 and slightly less than the E92, which would make me guess that the F22 will be similar to the F33 and slightly less than spacious than the F32, and a heck of a lot trickier to get in and out of.

We've talked about kids, and that was part of the reason of getting rid of the E82, but to be honest, we would have ditched any coupe if we planned on actually using the back seats frequently.

Frankly why so many of complaints about how "plain" this version looks.... folks, at least BMW gives you the CHOICE to tailor the look of your 2 series the way you prefer and yes, there are people out there who like a more understated look...

I love the exterior appearance of this 228. Clean, sleek, sporty If only it came with a naturally aspirated inline six

I hope we could see it in Glacier Silver, but without the messy paint job of the model presented at the CES...

Thanks for posting pics of MG! Although you can never really go wrong with grey (BMW's look their best in dark grey), I think I prefer the darker steel grey or sparkling graphite, and ergo am leaning towards MW instead. Also, go for the M235i.
