► APEX - Let’s Make APEX 19” SM-10 and FL-5’s a Reality.

UPDATE 8/21

Thank you everyone for your participation. Based on your feedback, we are excited to announce that our 19” SM-10 wheels have entered into production. Our initial launch will include our most popular sizes, with additional supporting fitments arriving 2019. Sample wheels are here in real life, and they're looking amazing. We have planned on-car photos to be taken in the coming weeks, and look forward to updating the community with a real world example of what these wheels will look like mounted on various chassis.

These wheels showcase new features never before seen on our 19” wheels (see images below):
  1. Popular 10 spoke design
  2. Deep I-beam milling
  3. Knurled Bead
In addition, we decided to take it up a notch by beefing up the spokes and front lip, resulting in an increased load rating of 1650 lbs per wheel. Larger diameter wheels commonly found on heavier chassis are more susceptible to damage, therefore extra measures were taken to ensure your 19” wheels are better equipped to fight off added stress introduced by potholes, race track berms and other imperfections in the road surface.

These wheels are now available through our group buy here.

We would love to get some on-car photos on an 228i or M235i, but have not yet received pictures from our customers. Once we have some, we will share them with the community. I'm certain these wheels will look incredible on a 2 series

What fitment would you recommend for the 2 series in this range

Thank you for your question. Since the 2 series fitment is very limited due to inner and outer clearance, our initial release of our new wheels only included one square fitment of 18x8.5" ET35. We recommend going with 225/40-18 or 235/40-18 tires all around. You can run 245/35-18 tires as well, but that will require a touch of negative camber to be dialed in. Future production, including 19" production, may include more 2 series friendly fitments as well.

Let us know if you have any other questions

-Matt

What I want is an 18" wheel optimized for the F22's fenders. To me, this means not being overly optimistic about trying to squeeze M2 sized tires under them. Instead, I think going .5" wider rim for both front and back along with 10mm wider rubber all around (235/40f and 255/35r) is the ticket. You get to keep the same 20mm stagger differential and tire profile between front and back tires as stock (in theory, no adverse handling effects), get a bit more rubber on the ground for performance, and surely a subtle aesthetic benefit.

I would buy SM-10 if available in 18x8 ~et40 up front with 18x8.5 ~et47 rear. This, IMHO, would be optimal for a 235/40f and 255/35r tire setup on the F22.

(Above should work with 19" wheel too, but 235/35f and 255/30r tires instead)

Also, if I'm going to get picky, I'd like a painted/clearcoated silver finish (see Porsche 997.1 Carrera S "lobster claw" wheels for color reference) as well as a black wheel w/ painted red pin stripe around the lip (see the red Porsche 991.2 generation GT3 release/promo car that A.P. goes over on YouTube).

That is all. Thank you!

Appreciate the feedback! As the 2 series community is growing, we may consider more specific fitments in the future. I appreciate listing out what fitments would work best for you, and I will definitely take note of them. On initial release of our 19" wheels, those fitments may not be available. But as demand increases, it is something we can consider

SM10 looks better in my opinion.

I'd also be much more interested in 18" sizes and offsets as mentioned by CP911 above.

19s are too big for the 2 series in my opinion.

Thank you for your thoughts. Your feedback does go a long way, and we hope to have additional 18" options in the future

From a looks and performance standpoint; 19" are too big for the 2series in my opinion.

I'd rather you release the 18x9.0” ET42 option.

It has been a while since our last update and we wanted to get in touch with everyone. Our 19" SM-10 & FL-5 project is still going strong. Our sample wheels are set to arrive next month, and we are looking forward to giving you a real life representation of what these wheels will look like. Stay tuned as there are exciting updates coming soon

Those are exactly the fitments I wish were available, in a wheel design I actually like (437M).

Wish this was available also. You could probably do a group buy on this forum to justify the cost of releasing this wheel size.

Expert@ApexRaceParts This is great for people that want 19s.

How about the SM-10 (black) in 18x8 ~ET40+ front and 18x8.5 ~ET45+ rear?
Please?
Pretty please?
I would buy them today.

PeterWT,

We do not have any plans to release the SM-10 in those fitments at this time, although we would love to offer something similar for the 2 series community in the future. If you are looking into a set of our SM-10 wheels today, we only currently offer the SM-10 in a squared 18x8.5" ET35 fitment that we know will work with the F2x chassis. I have included some details on this fitment below:

Front & Rear: 18x8.5" ET35 with 225/40-18 tires

- Direct fit.

- 235/40-18 tires are typically a direct fit, but may require a touch of front negative camber if lowered.

- 245/35-18 tires require approximately -1.5 degrees of front camber, and may require a touch of rear negative camber depending on tire brand and suspension setup.

- 255/35-18 tires require approximately -2.2 degrees of front camber and -1.8 degrees of rear camber depending on tire brand and suspension setup.

We know that this isn't quite the 18x8" and 18x8.5" staggered setup that you were looking for but if you are looking to mount the SM-10 on your 2 series, this will be the only option at this time.

- Max

Thanks for the follow up and additional detail Max.

I'll wait to see if you guys offer something close to that fitment in the future. Fingers crossed...
