2015 M235xi Chassis Function Restricted!

I just crossed over 60k trouble free miles in my M235 that I bought brand new in late 2014. Literally just tires, oil, and wiper blades. Very happy with the car...until this error popped up on the iDrive screen. (Cue theme from Jaws music). In the reading that I've done on the 'net this can be a few things but most likely a sensor related to the adaptive suspension. I know that each front strut has what I think BMW calls an acceleration sensor(?)
Does anybody have any first hand knowledge of this? My checking account is already quaking in its boots....
I really don't want to hit the local dealership but I might not have a choice on this one.
Any info greatly appreciated. Oh, and no, this hasn't magically reset itself like some people have reported on the internet. No battery issues or any other problems. One day fine, the next start...Chime!

This happened once to my 14 F22. And it went away next day I started the car up. Still I brought it to the dealership and they said they couldn't find anything and the car was fine.

I think you should pay a visit to a dealership just to make sure your car is checked out.

I've seen this warning from snow or mud being caught up in the wheel causing an imbalance. Cleared the snow / mud and restart and it went away.

Boys and girls, sell your BMWs before they crack 50k miles, or 4 years. ALWAYS!

I figured I'd pop back into this thread and let the community know what this error message was in my case. It turns out that the accelerator sensor under the pedal (I'm assuming) was out of range/failed. New sensor and the adaptive wire needed to connect it ran me 181 bucks list price at the local dealership. I got pounded on labor of course. Book time repairs are one of the biggest scams in the industry. 4 and 3/4 of and hour to replace. I seriously doubt that. The cost of ownership....
On a more positive note, I had the 60k spark plug service done for what I felt was a reasonable 400 bucks. I felt more comfortable having a dealer tech wrenching on the engine as opposed to some indy guy. With that being said, I'll be on the lookout for a good local shop going forward. Dealership labor rates are out of control. Have to pay for all that "free wifi, snacks, water, big screen TV in the customer lounge, etc. At the end of the day, I can't complain, the car is out of warranty for just about 2 years at this point and this is the first repair I've had to make.
Happy motoring!!

$400 for spark plug replacement – has it really come to this?

This is a site where you can find independents who are generally trained and equipped to do what the dealer can do: https://www.bimrs.org/find-a-shop.html

Nearest shop on that list to me is somewhere in New Jersey, my time is worth more than the 100-150 I’d potentially save. You ever check out that site? Hardly any shops on there. My local dealer is 3 miles away. In fact I walked home after I dropped it off. Got my steps in for the day!

probably the wheel sensors... struts or a combination of both.... and somehow the struts can also short the EDC ECU so that might need to be changed too

FWIW, north is closer to you than south. Understandably, convenience is important, and time being money can trump an aversion to those scamming book-rate dealers.

In looking at where the few shops on bimrs.org are located, I find that there are four closer to me than the one closest to you, and ten closer to where I last lived in San Francisco. As with so much else, it's luck of the draw.

Good to know, I grew up on Long Island, know the Huntington area. Bookmarked! Thanks for the info. After checking the site, there are a few highly rated shops within 30 minutes of me right here in CT.

May be worthwhile to join BMW CCA, both for the discount you often get, and the other members will be able to provide first hand references for local places that are good to work with.
