Charge pipe recommendation

Which charge pipe fits well with a Wagner EVO II Competition Intercooler?

I currently have an ER charge pipe that I can't for the life of me get to fit correctly with that intercooler. No matter how I install the charge pipe, the coupler never lines up properly and I get a boost leak.

Maybe I can get a slightly longer coupler instead?

Thanks in advance.

Evolution Racewerks will fit with Wagner intercooler. its a very tight fit but it'll work.

Active Autowerke and VRSF charge pipe have easier fit with an aftermarket intercooler

Thanks for the recommendations.
I ordered a slightly longer hump coupler (4” vs 3”). If that doesn’t work, I’ll order one of those from you.

Which charge pipe is easier to install? Active Autowerke or VRSF?

Looks like the coupler on the VRSF is closer to the engine side compared to the AA charge pipe.
Actually, the AA charge pipe is pretty similar to the ER charge pipe coupler location right? That coupler location is a PITA.

Wait, did ER change their charge pipe design in 2018/2019?

I bought mine in May 2018 and it doesn't look like the current one on the ER site. Mine looks like the VSRF (short upper tube with long lower tube).

Btw, I replaced the ER branded coupler with the longer HPS one to try to solve a fitment issue. Added a pic from another user of the entire ER charge pipe I have.

I have newer ER charge (I'm going with their larger IC eventually) and its tight but fit fine. Getting old one out was bigger hassle, good luck

Mike,

Are all the after market CPs metal? Are all of them the same diameter?

To answer one question, turner motorsports has their own charge pipe, half is silicone and other half is metal, but no bungs/ports.
It's the only one I've seen that wasn't completely metal.

Cool, thanks for the info on the Turner charge pipe.
Should be a lot more forgiving if I have some sort of tolerance issue with my Wagner IC install.

Of course, just be mindful it has no bungs for meth injection or the like, it's the only thing that has stopped me from buying it.

Like I said check FTP, very solid reviews and a good price. I would also consider wrapping it in heat reflective tape.

I wouldn't use heat tape - use reflective foil instead. You want to repel the heat, not trap it in. Be sure to give us a review when you install it.

Regarding why my ER pipe is different from the one shown on the ER site, ER said:

“The pictures shown on our website is for the RWD model. You have the xDrive Awd so the charge pipe is different. You have the correct charge pipe for your car. We did not redesign the charge pipes since their initial release.”

Mike, what about the AA charge pipe makes it an easier fit with the Wagner IC on the x-drive?

It looks like the AA CP for the x-drive has a curved coupler unlike the straight coupler used by the ER CP. Maybe that helps provide better tolerance.

From what i have seen, the active charge pipe fits with all intercoolers with ease. Its a very safe choice.
It could be the coupler with the design of the charge pipe
