Stock m sport spoiler removal?
Hello, i was wondering if the stock m sport spoiler is difficult to remove? Is it just like debadging, just use dental floss and a heat gun?

Yes, just like debadging just a lot more time consuming because of spoiler size.
Fishing string, heat gun, rubbing compound and goo-gone Last edited by 714_2er; 03-23-2019 at 07:54 PM.. |

Hey guys, i cant remember if this was bad or not, but can you use the adhesive promoter with the 3m tape if you want to remove the spoiler later and revert back to stock?

Is there an easy way to remove the old residue more easily and less time consuming? I used goo gone and tried rubbing it off for an hour and didnt even get to 1/4 of the goo off and now i have terrible blisters on my finger tips and cant continue. And goo gone sucks ass! Acetone works way better. Any suggestions?

Acetone is used to remove nail polish. It does the same thing to your paint. If you care about your paint, don't use acetone. Stick to paint friendly stuff like goo gone.

Do some googling there's definitely something. 99% of the time when you're working too hard there's a better way. EDIT: googled for you... https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...hoCQd8QAvD_BwE

You've got a mess on your hands I'd advise start from scratch and fix what's wrong before pressing on with spoiler. There's no way to adjust it now that it's stick on. Not to sound harsh but it's apparent you're in over your head, get some professional help before you make matters even worse.

Should’ve stuck to the basics.. Not the easiest but is the safest way to go, IMO. Keeping the left over 3m tape warm and soaked with goo gone really helps in removing it.. At this point, throw in the towel and take it to a paint/body shop before any further damage is done. |

Because you need to let it soak. I let mine soak in Goo Gone for about an hour and it made removing so much easier. Keep in mind that my car was 4.5 years old when I decided to remove the OEM spoiler.

Man are you in any way related to that one guy who drove his M235i through deep standing water? I'm just about to reach for the popcorn
Seriously though, pay for a pro to do this and save yourself plenty of $$$ on not having to repaint your entire trunk! |
