What bulbs did you use after all? Same as I did or different ones?

I find it easier to buy from Amazon, so bought the one linked in a previous post here.

Just tried this on my 2014 m235i. This does now work. No LEDs in our lights at all and probably no replacements would fit.

Thanks for this DIY post. I did the LED swap today. On Bimmercode, I see options to change the left and rear reverse lights from “Bulb” to “LED” and I coded them to LEDs.

In the same coding menu, I also see “Tail Lights Inner Lamp”, currently shown as bulb type but I see no other bulbs on the tail light assembly. What is this “inner lamp”?

On a 2er there are no tail light inner lamps 👍🏼

Appreciate the reply, although they're not the same LED's. Only 30 vs 50 and some reviews noting there is Hyper Flashing. Page has no notation on regard to Canbus.

Ali express site is annoying and wants way too much information for a simple purchase. Not comfortable doing that. Lol

Will keep trying to find the same by another vendor. Appreciate all suggestions. TIA

Fyi, the hyper flashing reported by others may be related to the "bulb test" feature that sends momentary electrical pulses to the bulb to test its integrity (this is how the car knows that you have a bulb out). The electrical pulse is not strong enough to light up a bulb, but strong enough to turn on an LED. When you change the bulb to an LED, you can use Bimmercode to change the reverse light from "bulb" type to "LED" type. This turns off the "bulb testing" and no flashing should occur. FWIW, I updated this setting, and have no hyper flashing. Good luck!

I don't like AliExpress too.... but, i've still bought a few items rellated to pc building and never had a single issue, great quality items and verd low pricing.

Same applies for these bulbs. If still valid i would highly recommend to use exactly the bulbs from my link.

OP, the circumference of the LED bulb looks as though it may be bigger than the standard bulb. Also, in your photos it appears the plastic housing that the bulb slides into may have been cut to increase the circumference of the entry hole.

Is that correct? Did you have to increase the circumference of the hole in the plastic housing to allow the new LED bulb to slide into the housing and twist-lock into place?

Wow, this is the first car I've owned that you have to remove the entire taillight housing to change a bulb lol. Usually I can just pull back the trunk lining.

Thanks for the write-up and review.

It's plug an play, no cutting at all. But indeed, the new bulbs are way bigger.

Yes, I meant the number of LED's. Each has a specific output and the total is cumulative. I was reluctant to answer as I didn't want to debate this seemingly simple detail.

I would like those LED's as posted by the OP///M, but gave up on that site as for whatever reason it kept kicking some security code to my email, but the email was blank. I gave up. Have not found them anywhere else, even on the LED manufacturer website. Is weird. Anyways...

Will decide what to do as the light output from the stock lights leaves much to be desired. I may settle and try the 30 led unit from Amazon.

Thank you all for the feedback

Total output is obviously cumulative on the number of LEDs. But the output of each LED is hardly standardized. The output is reflected in the LUMENS, not the number of LEDs. Unfortunately, even if there's a well defined measurement procedure, there is no enforcement agency, so manufacturers (especially those selling on AliExpress) claim whatever they want.
Your best bet is to listen to independent reviews, not manufacturer claims.
I bought the one that I posted and I can attest that it works on an M2, buscan claims or not.
As you can see, it's not a simple detail, even if it's seemingly simple.

Ok, so I ordered the alternates as ALIexpress just wouldn't submit to my requests, lol. Couldn't get the site to complete the order, so weird. So Amazon to the rescue, Hahaha.

But I put one bulb in and it didn't light. Is programming from "bulb" to "led" a must? I haven't done anything in Bimmercode yet, will if needed if course. Really didn't want to change anything if I could avoid it. Although that stupid warning on start up does need to go.

Anyways, let me know, thanks.

Yes first thing I did, then tried the other unit thinking maybe one was bad... No go either one.

I see the "led" setting as just preventing any code due to resistance value difference between an incandescent bulb and LED lamp (drivers).
