Yea - I think I'm sold on the matte black. Looks great, and I assume will work well with the AW.

Not a fan of matte wrap. However, those rims! What are they and what color? Almost look like a bronze burst??

i think the matte black looks terrible im afraid. the gloss black looks ok but personally i think doing it in carbon fibre as with the M4 etc would make most sense.

Not my car, but I'm sure those are VMR V710s (I got them on my MK6 GTI)
The color is Sunken Treasure.

If your other parts are carbon fibre, yes it would make more sense. But with the rest being matte black, I disagree-carbon fibre wrap will look out of place.

That is tempting. I think they would look great on my AW with a gloss Black roof wrap.

Hemisedan replaced his antenna cover with a cf one to go with his cf wrap.

I'll be attempting a gloss black 3m 1080 wrap on the roof, rails, and shark fin myself soon so lets see how things go! I have Alpine White so it should look great especially with the 5% tint and MP Mirror caps and MP Spoiler that will also soon be on the car.

Will you be doing a DIY..? If so i would like to see how things go for you. I almost ordered the wrap over the summer. I will probably try my luck this spring. Good luck

I'm on a bit of a time crunch with it as far as doing a full DIY video. Planning on doing it this Tuesday and only have 3-4 hours to get everything from start to finish. I might setup my GoPro for a time lapse and see how that turns out. I wouldn't mind doing a write up with any tips I have if all goes well after. I have never worked with vinyl before.

Thanks. My tint peeled on the corner from the window going down when opening the door so I actually am scheduled to get it fixed tomorrow.. may or may not be able to get the vinyl done but will keep you updated.

Hi all,

For those of you that had either CF or gloss black installed for longer than 1 year, how has it been holding so far?

A local shop recommended not installing gloss black wrap because swirls and scratches really pop up, even more than if it was painted. After that I stepped back and I'm thinking twice before doing it.

I think now there are a variety of wraps that will not scratch nearly as easily anymore. I believe Hexis makes a very thick film that doesn't show scratches much - sort of like a black ppf. I've heard G Suit also does the same. However, I am wondering how people got the antenna wrapped - was it taken off or not. I'm scared of water seeping in when re-attached.
