M240i question about hot climate version

Hi,

My car is a hot climate version, and I've noticed that the grille left and right where the fogs light are on the 230i the grill is different.

The left one is open, the right one is not.

What's weird is that when I go look through the options to parts mapping the hot climate version I notice something weird:

The duct to the radiator 'right' is larger when you DON'T have the hot-climate version: 51748061354 (S823A: NO) vs 51748054418 (standard)

and an explicit difference in grill between left and right. The left one is closed 51118061875 instead of 51118056797.

Why is this? One would assume MORE ventilation to the engine in case of HOT CLIMATE VERSION?
