OK. Thanks! I ended up ordering the set from ETAmfg.com (where I also ordered the Renn stands.) They are tall enough to prevent crushing the sides of the jack pad receptacle on the car.

Look like the same ones I have. Pretty sure I bought mine at ECS a loooong time ago but what I see there now is $30 a pop. I don't mind paying them a little extra but not that much for these things.

I researched a bunch of these jack pad adapters and BMS was one of the very few (can't remember any others actually) that provided enough height to clear the receptacle on my 340.... These Potauto adapters did not.....YMMV...

I just checked a few minutes ago, and they do for me. The BMW black plastic gizmo has about 1/2" in height inside, and these are slightly over 1/2" (the page says they are 0.6"). Mine goes in and solidly hit where they can hold the weight of the car, and there's still a sliver of daylight all the way around them.

Honestly I just roll the car up onto some 2x4s and then use a normal low pro jack.

I would not trust RennStands. IIRC there have been... Tipping events.

I was thinking about that as well. You could angle them somewhat and make them pretty safe, I think.

Envision them being the ends of an X shaped pattern.

It made me think about my Esco's, too, the tripod shapes and ensuring that a triangle point is facing outwards.

I have occasionally put my snow tires under the car as a backup plan. Which I think is related to the topic to mention.

Always put something under as a backup! I usually use my wheels as well.

I've had multiple cars on my Rennstands dozens of times. Nothing close to a tipping event ever! Anyone can F up any jacking situation by performing reckless actions on any tool. Be smart and you won't have an issue.

To the OP question.

I just switched to the long reach low profile from harbor freight. What a huge improvement from the normal jack!

Reach to center jack point. Lift car. Jack stands under the side points (using the heavy duty HF circular pad ones) repeat if you want the whole car up.

So much better than lifting onto ramps or on the sides.

Car is up and down twice as fast and way more safely.

Yes I'm fortunate to have storage for the jack close to the car on the same floor.

Yeah, mine is mostly on the ground, rolling around the garage and driveway. I do take it with me on track days (to swap wheels at the paddock), not a big deal to lift it into the trunk, but if an aluminum jack happened to land on my lap (which would still hurt like hell), I wouldn't say no. Just not bothered enough for 2-3 track days a year to get one.

I've got an old Craftsman and a new HF Low Pro / Long Reach as well. I tend to still use the Craftsman, it's just lighter and easier to move around. The HF has its moments (left under the front or rear central points, or to get my X3 super high) so I'm glad to have it but it is not the one I go for when doing simple things like semi annual wheel and tire swap.

Its not, but neither is the long reach.

You have to jack the rear point first, stands at the rear points, then you can reach the front.

I've got whatever the Harbor Freight Daytona low profile, long reach one is. It will just reach the diff to raise the rear, but I still cannot reach the center lift under the engine for the front. This is for an E90 M3. I think it's this one?

My method is to drive up these ramps on the front:

Lift the front and then put jack stands at the front. Then lift the rear from the diff and put jack stands on the rear.

These are the Harbor Freight Daytona jack stands I use. They are the "Esco" style.

I do something similar to spazzyfry123, the full-size Rhino ramps don't fit under the M Sport front bumper so I bought a set of shorter ramps on Amazon then use my Autozone low profile floor jack at the center jack point. I'll replace the shorter ramps with the Rhino's if I need the added work space and jack stands for safety.
