After changing the current to 85 amps from 105 I’ve been looking at changing it to a lower value but wasn’t sure what value to enter. I emailed bimmergeeks and they confirmed that you have to calculate the byte value for the new current you want. Chat gpt can calculate the byte value for 65 amps which is 41 based on the byte values of the given presets. This is what will be needed to lower the current beyond what is available with the 4 presets. However Bimmergeeks said this may not even be possible, but if it is this is how you would do it.

That is the most well reasoned guess that I have seen so far. There is the option at least in my case to enter a custom value, so there must be some functionality available there. I would also hope there would be some basic sanity checking of any entry, but I dunno for sure.

We had a relatively warm day yesterday so I used Protool to quickly flip the EPS Max Current to Custom Value 41 (assumed to be 65 amps as per above). Seems perfectly cromulent to me. Comfort is now about as heavy as Sport was with the default settings. Sport is quite a bit heavier, but I don't find it uncomfortable at all (indeed I might even try a lower setting yet now that I know the math, thanks to @mdemore13). Of course YMMV.

Does nothing to improve the steering feedback of course, that is down to the mechanicals, but at least the steering does not feel so heavily over-assisted anymore so I consider it a win.
