I'd have to say it is pretty accurate for me now (perceived jerk driver). I do tend to drive faster on the highway with my M235 and travel at speeds that I never had in prior sporty cars. I blame it on the car's ability to easily generate speed/acceleration and its stability at high speeds. I do find myself getting more annoyed with people driving "slow" on the highway, only to realize they're going the speed limit and I'm going 10-20mph over and I'm going faster than most, if not all, in the pack. On a three+ lane highway, I may carefully pass from the right if two bozos are have a slow-man's drag race in the left lanes.
I will caveat this by saying that I don't tailgate, I don't swerve, I don't fly up on people's bumpers, I use my signals abundantly, and if I'm speeding a lot, it's in big, wide open areas with no traffic and I slow down to 5-10 mph over as I pass people in the left lane. I have given up flash to pass because no one knows what the hell it means. Around town, I don't ever speed in residential neighborhoods, I'm only 5 or so over on city roads, and pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles, etc. always get the right of way even if they're being idiots.

This is complete crap, written by an obvious waterhead. WTF do they think calling us disagreeable, argumentative and stubborn? Starting to sound just like my wife and everybody I work with.... I think it is just that we all have higher standards, for both behavior and car performance.

What I find most hard to resist is that most every guy in a Golf R, GTI, Focus ST/RS, most any late model Audi, Mustang turbo/5.0, or later gen Camaro wants to show me how fast their car is.
These guys will haul serious ass off the line or the highway and my wife/daughter/son will ask if the other driver thought I was racing them or why the other driver is driving like such an idiot or something about how loud the other car is. I've never had a car that drew so much attention and I don't think it's a super flashy looking car.

As a graduate of the University of Nevada Reno, I'm obligated to say that you should absolutely not trust a study from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Oh yes. It's all true. We rich BMW drivers are aholes. We also hate electric cars, windmills, vegans, women, black/brown/yellow and red people, gays, and every other alphabetic acronym group out there. But they neglected to post the pic of the BMW drivers wearing their MAGA hats. Now hear this: All you Birkenstock wearers better GTF outta my way, 'cause I ain't stopping. I'm probably headed to Cabelas to pick up my newest AR15...and carrying it out in a plastic bag! So there!!

February 26, 2020 at 12:20 PM CST - Updated February 27 at 12:34 AM (CNN) - Scientists are now confirming something many people long suspected but were never able to prove: If you see someone driving an expensive car, they’re probably a jerk. Relax, luxury and sports vehicle owners: The finding is speculative and obviously not definitive. It was the result of research published in the Journal of Transport and Health. Play Video The study found that those who drive flashy vehicles are less likely to stop and allow pedestrians to cross the road. According to the study, the likelihood of a driver slowing down drops by 3 percent for every extra $1,000 of their vehicle’s value. The researchers came up with their findings by getting volunteers to cross a sidewalk hundreds of times, filming and analyzing driver responses. Copyright 2020 CNN. All rights reserved. |

Seriously? Every news organization uniformly secures copyright protection for their own reporting which accompanies the core information from the source being reported on. The study, itself, from UNLV, is what contains the methodology and findings which apparently concern you. It is UNLV, not any news organization, that decided to study this behavior and if there is a different effect based on race.
CNN, Fox, or any other news organization copyrights the writing in which the news event (the UNLV study, in this case) is presented. News organizations report copyrighted stories originated by each other, and also use video from each other, with permission and attribution of the source.

It should not be surprising that people who spend more money on cars are more likely to be obnoxious. It's a matter of entitlement: the more money you have, the more likely it is that you will feel entitled (note that I am not saying that all people with money feel entitled). So the more likely you are to flout all rules, conventions, laws, etc.
My favorites are the folks in VERY EXPENSIVE cars who park in front of the dry cleaners, in a clearly marked no stopping zone. If I can afford to buy a Bentley, I can park wherever the f- I want to, you lowlife a-holes!! |

The underlying idea isn't unreasonable IMO though. Parking tickets are supposed to be a deterrent. Obviously the wealthier you are, the less that $40 parking ticket means to you to the point where you just don't give an F. |

I don't believe the article for a second. I was an a-hole in a Honda for years before I got a BMW. In fact, I can still be an a-hole in a Honda minivan!
As Dennis Leary said, "I'm an a-hole, and I'm proud of it!"
