Seatbelt issues

Driver side seatbelt is twisted.. I though it was the clip was flipped, so I flipped it back, now I realize its the belt itself thats backwards, I assume inside the pillar but not sure how I can fix this... any easy way to get in there ? Should I just have the dealer do it ?

Also it doesn't retract with some "assistance"

Had the same issue last week. I tried to twist it back into position myself, but didn't work so I just took it to the dealer and had them fix it for free since it's under warranty.

I got pissed off and jerked it around a lot until it fixed itself but I don't know if I would do the same.

Dealer fixed mine 3 times before they gave up and replaced it. Not before the buckle poked a hole in the seatback so they had to replace the seat cover too.

Older thread I know, but I've had this same issue. My seatbelt has gotten tangled/twisted and turned around backward inside the B-pillar 3x in the 10 months I've had my car. Each time I take it to the dealer and they fix it in 30 min or less. They say it is just a "design flaw" and they can't do anything other than untangle it when it happens. I find it concerning that they can't/won't do anything more when it is a safety issue. There have been times when I've driven around for a week with no seatbelt because the belt is pulled so far out that it wouldn't keep in my seat and it won't retract. Any ideas or experiences with this?

It happens to me frequently. I wish I did have some ideas, but unfortunately I've got nothing for you.

Happens all too often here, as well!

I had this happen to me both times I went on test drives before I bought my car, and it hasn't happened since. I was able to fix it my self fairly quickly both times. I wasn't sure I was able to fix it at first, it just took a little bit of patience.

I'm not sure what caused it to do that, but I have a felling it has to do with how you let it go back into the piller.

I fussed with mine the other day when it was wanting to tangle up; at the time thinking 'am I making too big a deal out of this' but it seemed to be really ready to jam up. Seeing this post, I'm glad I didn't just let it sort itself out. If I let it go quickly, the whipping around seems to make it want to loop back on itself and jam. If you can, ask the dealer what they are doing to fix it, and post the info.

Mine does the same thing. The only way around it so far that I've found is to slowly release it and guide it back it. It's been super annoying. Would love to hear of any ideas or solutions if anyone has any.

Exactly that.
You have to slowly guide the belt in nice and flat, or it folds back on itself and jams in the slot.
Or the foldover gets though the slot and it's stuck on the inside.
Then everything looks fine, but the clip's flipped and there's a twist in the belt.
You've got to brute force the fold out of the slot.
It's just a bad design.

I have this issue and my car is under warranty...BMW Markham says it's not covered under warranty because nothing is broken. They want me to fork over 300$ to fix it

Had same issue about a month ago.
Was able to fix it myself, just have to play with it a little

Retract he belt almost all the way, make sure the buckle is facing right direction, straighten it out and follow beltntonentrance of pillar, you then have to kind of bunch it up to one side (side protion of slit) try to fold it over on itself in the correct direction and pull(hard) belt back out.took me a few tries but it worked eventually.

If it jams and it won't retract, grab it where it goes into the B pillar. Pull rearward and slightly down. It should free up so you get the fold out.
