The real point of the discussion is the fierceness of an EV fire vs. an ICE vehicle fire. Last edited by Efthreeoh; 06-10-2024 at 03:18 PM.. |

In Wyoming, Bill Gates moves ahead with nuclear project aimed at revolutionizing power generation
June 10, 2024 Bill Gates and his energy company are starting construction at their Wyoming site for a next-generation nuclear power plant he believes will “revolutionize” how power is generated. The company applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in March for a construction permit for an advanced nuclear reactor that uses sodium, not water, for cooling. If approved, it would operate as a commercial nuclear power plant. Russia is at the forefront for developing sodium-cooled reactors. https://apnews.com/article/bill-gate...e7f4ccf4f2ec3b Will be interesting to see how the greenies deal with one of their gods "Bill Gates" going nuclear? |

Highly doubt that car was just “sitting there” in the middle of the street, in oncoming traffic, parked the wrong way.
The most likely case is they were revving the piss out the engine while stationary at the light and it caught fire. Far cry from spontaneously combusting while unattended. |

Odd how people choose what to be concerned about and what is OK?
The ugly truth behind ChatGPT: AI is guzzling resources at planet-eating rates Despite its name, the infrastructure used by the “cloud” accounts for more global greenhouse emissions than commercial flights. In 2018, for instance, the 5bn YouTube hits for the viral song Despacito used the same amount of energy it would take to heat 40,000 US homes annually. https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...es-environment Now repeat after me, We must drive EV's to save the planet. |

On June 9, a BYD electric car caught fire on the road, and according to the video shooter, the driver was burned to death inside the car.

If I'm going to pick a ICE car most likely to catch fire it would not be the Ford Pinto but the Lamborghini. Lamborghini's have been catching fire from the Miura on. IMO some what engineering but most often ownership and their driving habits and lack of maintenance.
Over 5,900 Lamborghini Aventadors And 12 Venenos Recalled For Fire Risk Italian supercars and fires go hand in hand like Mustangs and Cars and Coffee crashes. https://carbuzz.com/news/over-5-900-...for-fire-risk/ |

No your arguments have been about how EVs will randomly bust into flames and ICE never randomly bust into fire and how things like fuses will stop fires - so in your universe Kia wouldn't need to issue a “park outside” recall for 462,869 model year 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles(gasoline I believe) with instructions to Quote:

Fuses do stop most shorts and thus fires and that is true on ICE, EV's and almost everything that runs on electric. There ought to be a few concepts we can agree on. |

GM expects lower 2024 EV sales after killing its most popular model
Jun 11 2024 GM now expects EV production to be in the 200,000 to 250,000 range in 2024. That’s down from the previous 250,000 to 300,000 target and even more from the initial 400,000. The comments come after CEO Mary Barra called 2024 “the year of execution” earlier this year as it looked to get back on track. After selling only 75,883 electric cars last year, GM missed its 100,000 EV sales goal. https://electrek.co/2024/06/11/gm-lo...st-popular-ev/ In a unrelated news story: Governor’s Failed Deal With GM Leaves Thousands Without A Job This move comes after a financial agreement in which Michigan taxpayers paid $824 million for GM to promise investments in auto jobs across the state, including the creation and retention of 5,000 jobs. The layoffs at the Orion plant are the result of GM’s delaying its conversion to produce Electric Vehicles (EVs) like the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. At GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly/Stamping plant in Lansing, Michigan, executives said 369 auto workers were laid off starting January 1, 2024, through March of the year. The layoffs come as GM ends production of the Camaro. Gov. Whitmer announced in January an $824 million bill to secure GM’s commitment to building plants and creating jobs in Michigan. “GM’s $7 billion investment in Michigan — the largest in their history — will create and retain 5,000 good-paying jobs and enable us to build on our legacy as the place that put the world on wheels,” said Whitmer. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news...ob/ar-BB1o1w1W Why does Mary Barra still have a job? While we are at it, why does Gretchen Whitmer still have a job? |
