That's why I'm thinking of getting something else. Want to have a fast daily. Was thinking a 14/15 zl1. Or maybe e92 m3

A ZL1 is a monster, but if you care about quality and refinement, it's a pretty terrible choice.

I do not know if the B58 is capable of handling 500 HP. I would get it tuned to 450HP, which I believe is quite achievable given the correct set of mods. I just do not see this car needing anything more than ~425 HP. Given that BMWs own 0-60 time for M240 Xdrive is 4.2 seconds (Conservative estimate).
Dinan's measured Motor HP was rated at ~370 and 415 Ft Lb of torque for the M240i and they have an elite tune out claiming gains on 40 HP and 60 Ft.Lb of torque w/stage 1, which is more than I will ever need... |

When you say quality I assume you don't mean reliability. I'd be willing to bet that the reliability on a stock 650hp ZLI kills the reliability on a 500+hp M235.

When comparing reliability - one would compare stock to stock - to compare a modded car to a stock car is not a fair comparison.

Why? Why not compare the actual vehicles you're going to own? No where did he say he was going to leave the 235/240 stock. He said he wants to get between 500-600 hp.

Turbo s2k can go 600whp and still be reliable from what I've found. Lighter and more reliable than a BMW. Want to start tracking, s2000 seems like the best choice. Plus I've never heard anyone regretting buying one

Seriously, who needs a 600 horsepower S2000 on the street. A 400 horsepower S2000 would be crazy fun but there is a point where it just gets stupid. 600 hp in an S2000 in my mind is the equivalent of someone that thinks it's cool to "roll coal".

So long, enjoy the S2K, they're fun (but not fast).

I promise you, it will not be more reliable Also, having that much power means a huge turbo which equals massive lag. The car will be brutal in the straight line but all out disaster on a road course. I think you've got some learning to do. A low mile, unmolested S2000 will cost you a pretty penny too. I helped my buddy find one last year. You'll pay for it, that's for sure.

It required a very brutal red line launch which may or may not blow up the differential from excessive wheel hop.

Not saying I'm going to 2jz swap it 1k+ hp first day. Will obviously be a learning process. Getting used to the car and learning it while it's stock, then modding it one mod at a time. Come on guys, use some common sense. Not that hard

Why would you ruin an S2k with that? The entire appeal of that car is its composed nature in twisty roads etc. By making it a power monster you pretty much destroy any reason to have started out with an S2k. I cant imagine trying to push 600hp out of my Z3 for instance, just a terrible idea all over. It would be squirmy, and erratic.

If you plan on going big power, I would not do it to something that is built around being a canyon carver (typically 2 seater roadies).
