From N52 to N55. What should I expect?

Hello everyone! I recently had a bmw 128i, great car except the usual bmw stuff. I'm in the market to purchase a M235i. Anything I should look out for during my ownership? I'm also purchasing it with a Carmax extended warranty so hopefully that will help in the future. Please share your thoughts. Thank you

Upgrade the charge pipe when you get it, then enjoy.

You’ll love it! Puts a smile on my face daily. I have a 2016 M235i, 6 speed manual. I have 50k miles on it and am the third owner. The N55 engine is good. You can expect to replace gaskets down the road and like someone mentioned above, the charge pipe is a weak point. Mainly due to it being plastic. You will be day and night vs the 128. Good luck!

Speaking generally - the M235i is actually pretty reliable and does seem like a little higher quality (and less quirky) 1 Series. Besides more power, expect higher fuel consumption from constantly pressing on the gas and a less visceral engine note. The N55 in the M235i is one of the best, and overall the car is just better in than the 1 series.

Enjoy!
