Constant whirring sound at idle (first gear) which goes away when driving

Hey guys, seeking your input - 2014 M235i zf8 with 80,000kms. I ran over a big pothole earlier today and not sure if this is a coincidence.

When the car is at a stop (in first gear) there is a constant whirring sound which sounds like it's coming from the front of the steering wheel. The sound goes away when taking off and driving normally, or by shifting into second gear/park/reverse at a stop. The sound can't really be heard from the engine bay.

Besides the whirring noise at idle, the car drives perfectly and doesn't have any issues with shifting.

I have included a youtube link below - any guidance on where to start diagnosing would be appreciated.

wonder if it's an engine or transmission mount.

Thanks for the reply Scott! I was thinking that too but not sure why the sound only happens at a stop in first gear? If this was mount related I would have assumed the noise would intensify under load at speed? Shifting the car into neutral or even second gear at a stop causes the sound to go away. I wonder if this was caused by the pothole which may have led to something being shaken loose or stuck.

I've been doing some research and found the below Reddit post which describes my exact issue. I will get this confirmed by a shop however the pothole may have damaged the heat shield? Please let me know your thoughts.

Could be a belly pan
Or even a suspension joint. I kinda doubt a strut or spring.

Tech would have no problem isolating the noise once up on a lift
