Is 245 up front possible without any modification?

I have my first track day ever coming up next month. Grip is my biggest anxiety factor of track days and I am looking to get a brand new set of aftermarket wheels as a college graduation present to myself. I'd love to go 245 square but after hours of research I can't find if a square 245 would work without camber adjustments.

Is there any offset that this would work with? If I need to use spacers I believe that's fine, I'm just not currently in the market for coilovers just yet.

This thread seems to indicate it works with a 17x8et40 and 245/40/17's on stock suspension.

You want offset between 38 and 42. Keep in mind all tire models are different sizes. One tire listed as 235 may be closer to 245 and vise versa. You can run a 245 tire in one model for years then replace it with a different 245 and now it rubs.

I'm running 245/40-18 on 18x8.5 40 offset in the front.

Also, finding 18x8.5 in 40 offset is not easy. I saw some 38 and some 42, but wound up going with a 45 and using a 5mm spacer in the front.

I try to solve that issue by going to Tire Rack to compare tread widths and section widths for the different tires I'm considering.

I was reading through your recent thread on your setup. I think I will look for 18x8.5 +40 and grab a 5mm spacer for up front as well. If it comes down to it, I will accept rolling my fenders if it rubs slightly. I'm more-so looking to spend my next expenses on a BM3 tune instead of coil overs for now.

I'm running 245/40/18s (Falken Azenis RT615+) mounted on 18x8 +42. I can try to grab some pictures.

Like someone mentioned before, be sure to check the tire specs. Something like a Hankook RS4 235/40 is just as wide as the 245/40 Falken 615+.

I used 2 rear 8" OEM rear wheels up front with 245/35/18 square and had zero issues with a 10mm spacer and an aggressive track alignment.....

I've been digging through the forum for optimal square setups for a good couple of months now and its very difficult to find the wheel style you like with the specs that are needed.
Sticking the OEM back wheels up front with spacers is an interesting thought except I would probably prefer new wheels over buying two additional OE ones.

Apex has a good starting point in general sizes that fit the 2 series:

Since 40 is about perfect for the front, I dont think you'll need a 5 mm spacer if you can get +40 wheels. If they're 43 to 46 offset you will need the 5mm spacer to get 245s to fit.

I'm running 245/35R18s up front with 18x8 et43 wheels, the stock suspension, and no need for spacers.

I test fit my 245/40-18 with 45 wheels before I put 5mm spacers and it was JUST about touching the shock with the car jacked up. I might have been able to drive it, but I thought it would rub under conditions.

My car is AWD, so a FWD might have a few more MM between shock and tire. Also I'm running Michelin Ps4s tires. Not sure if those are wider or thinner than average 245s.

A 245/40-18 is both wider and taller than the 245/35-18 which has the OEM tire circumference. That would explain the clearance issue you had. I've got just under 10mm clearance between the tire and strut with the 245/35-18 PS4 tires and et43 wheels.

Also, your car is RWD.
