M235i Winter Tires - Square tires on Stock Staggered Wheels?

Hello everyone!

I currently live in Colorado and it has started to snow so I'm planning on putting winter tires on my stock 436M M235i wheels.
I understand that the wheels are 18x7.5 and 18x8 but I want to put 225/45/r18 all around. Will this work? Any other tire size recommendations?
Thank you in advance!

225/40/18 is the correct size, 45 may work if you're not lowered. You can run 225s on the 8 inch rear wheel.

I run 225/40/18 Michelin X-ice Xi3's on the stock staggered rims in winter. Its completely safe, and the narrowness is desirable because it helps ever so slightly with traction.

I just made my stock staggered wheels my winter set after running 17s for 6 winters. Went with these sizes, I highly recommend, you get a bit more sidewall and more tire choices. Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4.

215/45/18
245/40/18

The diameter of the two is almost identical. You get more sidewall to protect your wheels and about an inch more ground clearance.

You could go square setup, but I think staggered with a bit wider on the rear is good when driving on dry cold pavement 90% of the time.

Help me out, here; it's a 1/2" increase in ride height, isn't it?

Yeah you're right. I put so many possible sizes through the calculator I forgot the details. Overall diameter changes by 1" sidewall size by roughly 0.5". So you will ride about a 1/2" higher.

Front to back your diameter variance is only 0.38%, so even X-drive guys could run this setup.
